        • I've done a little bit here and there. I should be back in full swing chopping away at getting this back together shortly. I will get a little update with the latest things written up in the mean time

            • I never posted these pictures from around early August because I had planned to start working on the car on a regular basis again. Obviously that didn't happen haha

Replaced the crusty nuts for the front of my rear subframe. I'm not sure why I didn't order these and replace them the first time I redid the rear subframe.

I had noticed that the stainless hardware on my diff had corroded when I used the KBS Rust Seal chemicals to prep the diff to be sealed. Instead of polishing them and leaving the wave washers I had initially used, I thought it would look a little nicer with some beauty washers. I bought new bolts again and ordered more washers from Downstar.

              Before

              After

I figured it only made sense to mount the brake master with some as well.

The most recent work I did was cleaning up the fuel tank access areas under the rear seat. There was light rust around the openings and plastic captive nuts so I wired them down to bare metal and primed them for now.

Once I clean up the underside and redo the undercoat there, I will spray down the semi-gloss.

I'm hoping to start putzing again on it soon so that I can get an idea on when I want to actually get it all together and maybe to a somewhat "done" stage

              • You are an absolute madman lol. This thing will almost be a brand new car by the time you're done... in 2018.

                • Time to wipe a little dust off...

I pulled the front subframe to get powdercoated since it got pretty messed up at the body shop from the bay work and being jacked up without any padding.

Tonight I will put the rear up on stands as well so I can remove the undercoat and any surface rust from the rear subframe forward. I am still trying to think of a clever way to heat under the car so that I can recoat within a few days and have it actually dry (since it can't dry in 30-40 degree weather)

                  • On another note, I am looking for a set of door latches that look "like new" once cleaned up. My drivers one has the zinc plating all corroded and my drivers side once wasn't masked off during the respray (it was also probably corroded). They're $250+ per latch new so I am hoping someone has a used set they will sell me. Any state that doesn't get snow should have nice latches since there isn't much else to corrode them.

                    • For the record, I don't think there is any super easy and efficient way of removing undercoat from 66% of the bottom of a car...let's hope I can manage it in the next few days without going absolutely postal lol

                        • Still chugging along slowly but surely.

This afternoon I will be dropping my brake line fittings off for plating so I should be able to get the front brake setup all done shortly after I get them back.

In other news I picked up a part I have been wanting for quite some time.

I apologize for the potato quality lighting (and for not replacing my damaged HVAC panel before showing this haha)

In an effort to make things as simple and clean as possible (most aesthetically) I removed the head unit in favor of controlling the speaker system in a different way. More on that once I actually start the wiring.

Speaking of wiring, can someone help me find the amp wiring diagram for a premium sound compact? It looks like all other e36's use a similar but slightly different amp.

                          • Fiddled with a few things on Saturday. Not much to post pictures of as I was mocking up my actuator for my push button hatch release system and some other small things.

Some comparisons between old and new
