You know so much more than I do, I read your posts and I'm like
Keep it up dude!
Whaaaaat hell naw. Your build is way more intense than mine. Engine stuff is simple. Welding in chunks of metal and grinding rust and stuff is what's really hard.
Just read through this on bimmer forums, good stuff... my valve stem seals looked exactly the same when they came out
ain't that about a bitch? those seals were like "Every day the same thing. 'keep the oil in the head, seals' 'that's your job, seals' 'don't let the oil into the cylinders, seals' Well you know what? I quit. I'm done. Not gonna work for the man anymore. Oil can do whatever it wants. How do you like that, C-Hutch? How bout a little oil in the cylinders? WON'T TAKE US FOR GRANTED ANYMORE, WILL YA, YOU UNGRATEFUL FUCK??"
Tis makes me all warm inside. Nice work. If the timing sprocket was sharp then it definitely was time to do it.
yeah you could definitely see some wear on it. With those and the valve seals replaced, I'm sure the block would be fine but I'm going to do rings and bearings anyways just because it's apart and I have them on hand. Might as well.

Motor work is coming along nicely. Word from the wise- shy away from Simple Green on aluminum parts (especially bearing surfaces), there was a bulletin from the military not too long ago that showed how it can actually eat away at aluminum chew it up. It gets into the porous aluminum and it's like FUCK YOU and eats away at it over time.
Because I'm not trying to blow smoke up your butthole:
