Thanks guys, well the other night I went to go start him up and drive home (I was 45 minutes from the shop) and his battery was dead, oh great so I go him jump started and started towards the shop. About 20 minutes later my gauge lights go out, their led so this should be a hint as to where this is going, by Flagler beach my headlights where so dim that I could barely see my mom in front of me. Then the battery dies again, stop and jump start him again and let the battery charge up.
started back again, made it 10 miles from the shop and he dies again, finally get him back about 2:30 in the morning. The next day I'm looking at the alternator and find this.
simple to fix, but I have wanted to put a 1 wire alternator in for a while to get rid of the last 3 wires on the firewall so he's back to waiting on parts again, beginning to think he just likes being shop art.

Still haven't gotten my alternator so I've been doing some little things, started more block off plates on the dash and switched my toggle switch ignition to push button.
Before.
after.
Painted to match the other ones.
and while at the sunshine stance show yesterday I picked up a new license plate frame for my new vanity plate.

Update, I bought a gm 3 wire alternator off of a coworker who bought it for his dirt track car, but found a 3 wire alternator out of a lawn mower..... ( I'm serious, it pumps out over 40 amps, plenty for a dirt tracker).
On to the pics, test fit the alternator with the v-belt pulley.
The power out stud was fighting for space the the air cleaner housing already occupied.
Nothing a ball peen hammer couldn't fix.
Trimming the wires to length after swapping the pulley and drilling the mounting hole out slightly bigger (used a drill press to insure it was straight).
All soldered together, heat shrank, loomed, wired, and through a new belt on.
And went and took a couple pictures, but I'm only going to leave one.
