Haha for some reason when I saw "SA" I thought of Seattle so I figured it might be a long shot but still possible since that's like 20 hours north of me driving.
Nice build mate, Love how your incorporating technology into this, and the wheels will look sweet on it!
Definatly in for more.
Yeah, I guess I'm just modernising a beetle. I'm an iOS Developer so I live and work with technology. I've never seen anything like what I have planned for Zelda done before, so hopefully breaking the mold and doing something extremely different.
Sure were Torana lights, still have the fibreglass guards, they're just sitting out the back in the rain. Mum definitely doesn't like them out there that is for sure...

Hopefully sanding back the lips in the coming days, stripping the clear off of them and then re-polishing. After that, will rebuild them with the current lips and bolts and hopefully will have received the new brakes soon too.
Very exciting times coming up, looking to buy some ICHIBA 10mm spacers for the front and rear, then we'll see how it all goes together.
Mine is the McPherson strut front end beetle.
And let's just say I'm more of a fan of poke then tucking.
I am working on making Zelda stand out when it goes next to other beetles.
I see too much the same and I'm not a fan of it, so hence the radical changes happening to Zelda.
Alrighty, after many hours of sanding and polishing the wheels, all four of them, are finished.
Have called up a tire place and they're going to call me Monday morning with a quote for a set of Falken 205/40/r16's. Starting to get excited too, as the blank discs should be here Monday as well.
Alright, quick backlog of what has been happening.
Work actually sent me over to America, originally for two and a bit weeks, but ended up being five.
Spent time in Tampa Bay area in Florida, was amazing experience and rumour has it that I'll actually be moving over there in November.
So, when I got back these babies really needed to get on Zelda ASAP.
I got them wrapped in 205/45/16's and they look awesome.
Waiting on my brakes to arrive from the states in the coming days, then will test fit them and make an order for some spacers. I have a feeling I'll need 15mm for the front and rear, but that's just my guess.
Will be updating this over the weekend too, hopefully will get the bonnet stripped and painted white, will also try and pull out some more dents from the roof and clean her up. Might even get the electronic ignition installed.
Have fitted the rotors and wheels. The rotors came up mint, and had to do some fancy stuff to get the actual wheels to seat properly, but once that was all done and the brake hose mount was modified, we took her for a spin. Here we found that the passenger side of Zelda has had a hit in her past life, as the actual wheel itself sits forward in the guard.
So we had to roll the guards to get everything clearing as needed!
Some images, will get some of the wheels on tomorrow.
Will be giving the calipers some loving in the next week or two.
Red, for that extra +25kw!
I love that Subaru dash conversion a lot.
If this is gonna be the final style overall it'll be a bomb.
Thanks mate!
Yeah, the Subaru dash conversion is going to be pretty sweet when it is all done. I'm tempted to put it in Zelda's current body but time is running out before I have to go to America.
I'll be uploading some photos of the front fitment today. Almost on point.
