Well, a lot got done last night/tonight. It is now quarter to one in the morning on the 1st of March.

So I dry fitted two wheels, one front and one rear. This is how the front came out.

So that is all well and good, minor poke but nothing much, exactly how I imagined it would look. Now came the rear. This is where I got excited.

And now for the overall effect at the rear, look at that dish!

So after all the fitting and being happy with how they sit, and with the natural camber at the rear, how they'll pull in, I was ready to torque them all up and get them sealed. With the help of Mum and Phoebe, I was able to get all four wheels done, as well as sealed before heading off. Looks like we'll be getting tyres on tomorrow night hopefully and then I can put them back on!

So I left them like this at home.

Now to get some sleep and get even more done tomorrow.

Can only mean one thing. RS's are getting rebuilt. Gonna be wide.

Now just waiting on lips and bolts. Not long now hopefully!

So, the bug is now sitting where it should be, for now anyway. The idea is to get her dialed down perfectly when the wheels have been rebuilt, but this should be where it will sit anyway.

Here's where she is sitting now.

The bug is now down in the rear.
Probably going to go looking for another 20mm on both sides on Saturday.
But, this is how it is sitting currently.

Still waiting on lips from Germany to come to rebuild the RS's. Going to be wide.

    Measured everything up.

Have to bring the LHS down 40mm and the RHS down 30mm to get it sitting perfect at the rear.

Will get it done in the next week I reckon.

Going to attempt to bring the rear of the bug down in the coming days. Just so it matches the front.

I reckon about another 50-60mm should get it sitting perfectly.

I decided it was well and truly time to bring the rear down. I could only do so if I upgraded the rear to Type 3 Torsion bars (stronger than standard Beetle) and double spring plates. This is also done for when the powerplant engine ends up going in.

So I went out and took some photos of how she currently sits. Still needs to come down in the rear, but for now this will do.

In other news, I am waiting on some new lips and bolts from Germany to come so I can rebuild my RS's for a show next month. Hopefully by then the new engine will go in, a 1914cc, and the new bushes will wear in so it sits just that little bit lower.

Quick update on the custom dash.
Have got the overall shape down packed, and the Subaru cluster sitting in as needed.
Now it is just a matter of cleaning up the dash itself, filling it all in with expandable foam and then getting it covered in leather.

Haven't shown anyone else this (I have build threads elsewhere), but I'd prefer the S|W community witness the whole build and not just the final product.

So now that I have been rolling the wheels for a bit, I have to admit they are a pain in the arse to keep clean. Especially seeing as though I now have slotted rotors at the front, I get a lot of brake dust sitting in the lip.

Started work on the new body. Have rubbed back half the roof and am rubbing back the other half tonight.

Am not lowering the rear until I get the current body off and re-do the pan halves. Don't know when this will happen as I'm working quite hard to get the body painted and ready before Christmas.

Will grab some photos Saturday night as there are a couple of meets happening.

The awkward moment when my taillights are from a 71... :l

As for the dash, I should post some more photos of the custom one I've been making.
Looks a lot better than the metal dash that is for sure, a lot more modern now

But I digress, back to work I go.

But you should repaint the front bumper or go bumperless...

    Pics are great as well.
    Thanks!
I was actually thinking of repainting the front bumper yesterday.
Will attempt to do it some time during the week or on the weekend.
