CF hood still isn't finished haha

June 24, 2012 - Prep for the S3 Magazine Shoot

Well a couple days ago (Tuesday I believe) I was contacted by the editor of S3 Magazine to do a feature on my car. I was ecstatic! He asked if it was running (another DSM guy I think lol) and I said yes, so his photographer contacted me and we set up a time and place to meet for the shoot. Now I only had a couple days to get my car picture worthy so I started throwing things together rather quickly.

Firstly, I took my 2gb side skirts to a friends shop (Kirk Kustoms) to be painted. I asked him if he could possibly have them done by Friday and he said sure. While I was there he offered a killer price on a full buff and detail for me...so I gave in and brought the car to him Thursday morning. Amazingly, the side skirts were almost done as well! So it worked out perfectly.

Jacked the car to get to the bottom screws for the side skirts better

Wetsanding on the hood began and I took off the front wheels to fit my screwdriver to take off the old endcap

Hood has been buffed over with rubbing compound

    And now the bumper

By that time I had the old side skirts off and the new ones were finished drying, so on they went!

I have had crappy cut up carpet in my car for a while so I finally picked up some extra carpet and put it in Ritz dye for 24 hours before heading to the body shop for the buff and wax
Before being put in the dye

    In the dye

    Old carpet out

Annnd, I fail for after results lol. I will take a picture of it today to add to this

Anyhow, car being washed after the polishing compound did its work

And all done! Ready for its date with the photographer

I got a few pictures of the photographer at work. The car won't be featured until the November issue I believe so the anticipation will kill me, but I am excited to see some of the editing the photographer does to the pictures and what he shows me until then.

After the photographer was done, my friends and I needed to kill some time so we went and did a little photoshoot ourselves

Thanks man, future plans are to put the a/c in and fix the headliner. There are a couple others things I need to fix as well but those are the two near future plans

Got a/c in the car so needed a different hood to cut down on overheating. Getting it painted when I get money saved up

its still aggressive, but rattle can the black duplicolor the hood. so, it will at least not take away from the car's cleanliness.

Oh trust me, I **** it being the flat black, but it is plastidipped so it doesn't have to be sanded down again. I will gladly make the sacrifice of a bit of cleanliness to prevent sanding it down again

Thanks man, I really like the 2gb talon front bumpers. If I ever see one locally for sale for a good price I would love to pick it up and swap bumpers out from time to time

Stock hood is back on! Car was backed into so the rear bumper and hatch are going to be painted soon. While it is at the body shop I think I will have him roll my rear fenders some more...picked up some ksports for next to nothing so I am going to throw them on (with a blown shock...oh well) and see just how low I can go and still be able to drive the thing. For the price I paid for the shocks, I am not too worried about hurting them lol.

Oh, and I put a Tial BOV on, got tired of the greddy clashing with my engine bay. Pics will come later, I am tired.

Looks like I skipped a few updates so I will add them on now

                                July 14, 2012 - A/C Install

After driving in the summer heat again, I decided now was the time to put the a/c back in. I realized I was missing a few lines so I got what I needed from a local parts car seen here (Also got a few other random parts from it :p)

                                Trunk full-ish of parts

Tearing apart the car to put in some foam as ducting

Decided to change the expansion valve before getting it filled

While putting the compressor in I decided I would relocate my afpr and install a manual gauge back onto it to verify base fuel pressure...it was off lol, explains my tune issue I guess

Screwed it down to a board to break loose the electronic sending unit

Hole needed to be enlarged on the bracket so out came the drill

I needed a new longer line to move the afpr so onto the stove it went

Needed to get the compressor in while the afpr was out of the way, tight fit

So everything was in..dryer was replaced, expansion valve was replaced, compressor was drained of oil. Everything seemed like it was ready to go, so into the shop it went for round 1.

Annnddd, it wouldn't pull a vacuum. Shot some freon in and it started blowing out of the condenser, fantastic. So out it came and I had it patched up

                                Then back for round 2.

And the compressor wouldn't kick on hdamn: If the relay was jumped it kicked on, but no other way. So I took it home just to see if the fans were working and the pressure valve blew on the compressor after running it for a few seconds, awesome. Luckily, the shop is amazing to deal with so he refilled it for me for free.

So I took out the ACCU to see if it looked bad...yeah I had no idea if it was or not, whatever.

I found a local who had eliminated his A/C but didn't take anything out of the interior. I asked him if I could grab it and he agreed. So, unplugged mine, plugged his in and boom, working A/C.
