Also, big thanks to my friend Spencer for cleaning the car up, giving it a coat of wax and taking the pics. He also kind broke my slave cylinder, but shit happens

        • That is the skidplate ahahah. The problem is, the 5.0 oil pan ist just sitting on it, because it's about half an inch lower than the old engine.

              • What did you use for an oil pan? I just modified a Jegs pan for my friends 5.0 swap and it sits about a 1/4" above the subframe now. Only thing I had to do was notch it for the steering rack.

And please bring this to H2O, you'll regret it if you dont

If he does the dry sump the pan would no longer be that low, allowing the skid plate to be raised and the car lowered more

Tried to modify a stock pan, didn't work so well. So bought one from e30v8.com(same pan, pre modified). And wait, the lowest part of the pan sits that high? There's no way.

And that was the plan, but I need to run a hard line for oil pressure, figure out why the alt doesn't always charge, various other things and have the cage built before the second semester of school(when I'm bringing it with me) so I don't think it's happening this year :/

                    • You sure you need a dry sump? Start with baffling the pan or look in to accusump cause I think it's super overkill to dry sump a 5.0. The pump will cost more than the engine. Fortune Auto JUST put in a drysump for a unlimited AWD evo that pulls double the g's an e30 with an iron block 302 could.

                        • Thats a very expensive way to get clearance. That's like getting MSD coil over plug setup cause you have bad spark plugs. Vw guys have been modding pans and pick ups for ages, and it's 1/15th the cost

If anyone knows about pan clearance on this forum it's Byron.

This. After seeing what Swoops has done for pans, I'm convinced that inexperience is what the problem is here.

I run into a few problems when looking at that though.

                              1. No oil pickup to use, the front sump pickup sits pretty much on the bottom of the pan.

                              2. Even if I were to modify it, it would be very slight as I've already lessened the oil capacity
about 1.5+ quarts, so it would almost be not worth doing, as no other e30
skid plate has that height, except for an m20 but that would be impossible to run without
a dry sump. That leaves me with a custom build plate, which isn't worth the trouble for the
                              little clearance I'd gain.

If anybody has any suggestions, I'd love hearing them! I still have 3/4" - 1" to the plate, so it's not dire, just something I'd like to remedy.
