Interesting, thank you for your input. I didn't weld directly on top of the first weld, more so on the bottom of it so that I was getting more coverage and penetration on the spindle. If you look at the pictures, you can see that they are sort of layered instead of stacked (if that makes sense). Do you think that was a bad idea?

They way it looks in the picture i think it should be alright. A stacks of welds is usually done on a fillet weld i think(still learning) and welded on the toe of each weld and its usually done with a stick welder but it is done with a tig also. He was saying that going back over the same weld with no filler wire "bakes" the weld and adds to much heat and in return the weld isnt as strong(Correct me if im wrong anybody who know a good bit about welding). I dont know a lot as ive only been in class for a couple months now but id figured i would tell you for future reference.

P.s. Your car is going to turn out amazing. It already looks so good on the rack.

It looks like Mikey was stacking welds, and there is nothing wrong with that. It actually makes a stronger weld because it just simply has more mass.

I've never experienced a weld becoming weak after being gone over by the torch a second time, but I'm sure this has some truth in it.
In your case, it's more important to have good penetration, and I see no harm in going over it twice because the material is so thick.
If it was on some thin stainless or something like that, then going over it twice may affect the welds strength.
