  • No black on the steering wheel, it looks good as is. Great job on the seats to man.

Those tires you picked up aren't bad at all. I have a set and they have never given me any trouble.

Yeah I'm just going to leave it how it is for now and see how I feel about it once all the interior is together is ready to go.

I'm not doubting the tires at all because I've had Federals on previous setups, I just can't believe how cheap they were!

        • ^^Thanks dude!

Finally got to work on the car again today. I've barely been able to work on it the last few weeks, but in about a week I'm going to be on it 3-4 times a week again.

So I started today by taking off the steering wheel and taking out the dash:

          Also removed the front windshield:

The 2002 is pretty much completely disassembled, I have never been this deep into a project. I get a nervous but excited feeling sometimes when I look at it like this:

Started tearing away at the old shitty headliner and got it out:

          And this big package came!

It's a Getrag 245 5-speed manual trans out of an E21. There was gear oil everywhere! Need to replace all the seals. The seller also failed to mention that he wasn't including the release fork, which kind of sucks, but whatever:

Gave it a good wash and emptied what was left of the fluid. It looked similar to a science experiment, it was 3 different colors all separated. I'm sure some water leaked into it while I was washing it. Can't wait to replace the seals and put some fresh fluid in it:

Also, got home and this was waiting for me :

Lastly, I made a pretty big order of random parts like gaskets, seals, release fork, etc. More updates later this week!

          • Dood I had a MOMO hub that I would have sold you for nothing! Do you need a MOMO steering wheel in black leather or a Ireland Engineering front 22mm sway bar? I also have a spare steering box if you want to rebuild one. Its yours for free. Let me know.

seriously? Maybe I'll buy yours and return this one if you're down. How much would you want for yours shipped to 93405?

I actually just bought a steering wheel, it's a few posts up, thanks though. Might be interested in the sway bar as well, but should probably hold off on spending more money on things that aren't in my plans. I've spent sooo much money already haha at least a lot to me. Thanks for offering the steering box to me, but I think I'll pass. I have way too much other shit to focus on haha

              • Awesome build so far! I'm happy about the way you've made the seats fit to the '02!

                      • wanna buy mine? I'm returning it because I got one used. Just trying to get my money back. $75 shipped to you if you're down. If not, they can be had on eBay or Amazon for $75 shipped, just type in BMW 2002 MOMO Hub Adapter. But let me know if you're interested, I'll ship out immediately.

haha don't we all. Didn't realize you were in Australia. I had a hard time pulling the trigger on a $75 hub adapter, just because this whole build is definitely starting to add up. I've spent over $3300 so far (not including the purchase of the car), and I still have lots to spend to make my vision happen. That's a lot to me haha

haha nice, I went the cheaper route with wheels for now, I originally was going to build a set of BBS RM's but got scammed on them. Do you have a build thread anywhere?
