Right, made a start this afternoon from about 5.30 until 9. No pictures unfortunately but,
1. Removed rear struts - Facom gun arrived and didn't break a sweat removing any bolts.
2. Split down loom, played around with the wiring so the ignition ran along with the controller, power lines cut and kept in boot.
3. Carpets lifted, rear seats removed and airlines ran to front foot wells with the power line going down passenger side and control wiring down the driver.
4. Refitted interior.
Got a couple of issues but shouldn't be too much. Fronts will be removed in the morning when JamesB arrives with spare axle stands, then can work on drilling the airlines into the wheel wells. Planned roughly where the compressors and tank will sit and will chop a rough piece of MDF for that then it is the case of trying to get it welded up.
Need to also cut down the top mount plates and get them drilled. Wary about doing it by hand, so hoping I can find someone with a pillar drill.

Where we are up to.
Thursday, started at 10 and decided best to plumb in the boot. Wired up everything, cut hoses roughly to length then had to go out and buy a gas soldering iron as we are too far from a power socket. Got everything powered, earthed and connected. All fittings on the tank and that. Realised need two 90* bends to take compressors in to give more room to fit in boot. Spliced into ignition and fired it up.
It worked?! Fired a bit of air through one of the lines and that worked too.
Whilst Sketch was wiring inside the car it decided to totally piss it down so James and I headed indoors to cut off the rear strut eyes. Got some cool grinding pictures. one phone shot.
Went back to the car to try plan a bit more. Found with the push-to-connect 90 degree adapters on the rears, they didn't fit inside the turrets well so left doing any more of that.
Spent the majority of Friday with the other half, but managed to stop at a few shops to look for a straight connector for rear bags, to save cutting a huge chunk out of tower and attempting to find a competent enough welder.
Friday night rolled around and Sketch turned up with a battery drill and torch, another friend arrived with a spare jack and two axel stands. Front end could now be removed. Took about 30 minutes a side, amazingly nothing snapped, sheared or provided any resistance to being removed. Was about 11pm now and very dark, still carried on figuring out the best way for the airlines to enter the footwells. Decided to have the push-to-connect airline inside the car, a 90* adapter again and then go out today to buy a female to female coupler to bolt to the braided hose from the front bag. The supplied hose came with enough length thankfully.
Problem with the rears has been sorted for now by using some screw in adapter that the raw hose pushes into and then jubilee clips in place. This was found in the compressor box for relocating the inlet filter.
And that's where we stand, as at 1am this morning. Next up is chopping the front struts and measuring that up. Drilling the rear turret and welding eyelet on. Top mounts need drilling and then the rears can then be fitted!
Another couple of days work but it's going well for us. Specially considering I have no experience whatsoever of air ride...!Last edited by Jorge; 08-04-2012, 06:28 AM.
