  • 1971 chevelle - muscle stance

what it is: 1972 chevelle with a 71 front clip/ no bumper

motivation: original 350/350 car but swapped in a 468 ci rat and a richmond super T10 4 speed

articulation: front-2.5" drop spindles, hotchkis bb springs with a coil and a half cut for a total of 5" front drop
rear-12 bolt(3.73 locking differential) with qa1 full adjustable coilovers
huge chromoly swaybars front and rear

I've been kickin it around in my other cars for awhile now, I figured it was time to go back to the car I've been around the longest. I was rocking some staggered 17's for awhile, they were pretty dope but not quite the right fitment. the rally wheels that are on it in the pictures are close to what it would have stock and I liked those too. simply put, like alot of you fellas, I like a few wheel options.

    Where I'm at now:
I bought 2 vintage ansen sprints in 15x10 with 3 3/8 back spacing for some front runners(I think its something like et-35), fixed them up and painted them charcoal metallic. I stretches some 205/60/15's(on such a big car I decided 40 of 50 series tires would be way to small and the rims would surely crack due to the weight of the big block)

heres some photo fitment to f__k your brain p_ssies
    Frontal:

I just wanted to see how it looked on the rear to get an idea of what I wanted:

the tire is WAY to skinny ever work

pretty flush but not what i wanted the rear to fit like.

it is lowered about 5" but still not low enough. I think about one more inch in the rear and maybe 1.5 in the front and it should be good. I'll do this by solid mounting the body to the chassis and modifying the core support because I cannot afford to lower the suspension anymore, bags are not an option.

for the rear I think I will go with an 11 or 12 inch rim and more tire(maybe a larger size)

it has the 17x9.5 in the rear in this pic

I'll keep at it and post up if you guys dig

If you are going to stretch on that car, it better be a minimum of 285. Skinny tires on a Chevelle is just a sin.

yup, the rear will be that way on an 11 or 12 inch. I set it up at one time for 275 up front and 315 in the rear... steering was way to heavy. The car has always had at least 215 on front and I never had a problem with understeer. I figure after i wear out these 205's i'll go with as big as 235-50-15.

This thing is mostly gutted so its relatively light for a big block chevelle, however, I am in the middle of some horse trading that might land me an 06 zx10r for my big block. I want it lighter so along with the stance adjustments I will be doing a motor swap. I have a 5.3L LS variant that I want to turbo and stuff in here. I got the motor and a 4L60E transmission along with a 1987 325i in trade for my 93 eg hatch. I think the transmission is going to make it onto my 46 ford.
