            Well, Lampredi SOHC was light years ahead every production 8 valve 4 cylinder engine in that period with head flow capabilities, rod ratio, short stroke, and some other details.

                It wasn't the first in anything AFAIK but engine design and rev capabilities of this engine were very good for a budget production saloon in 1969. Engine was built for 40 years without any great changes.
