The 128 design was derived from the 124 berlina. Which was designed in 1964 and first sold in 1966. The first 510 came out in 1968.
Many Japanese GT's of the 60s and 70s were styled after European cars. There are also a few Bertone , Pininfarina and Giugiaro designed Japanese cars. This is the 124 from '66

Car is 1983. converted to the Series 1 look, flared, new paint, new front and rear valances, non rusty....
Vitaloni californian mirrors, at the moment series 1 Berlina 4p grille, I also have 2p Berlina grille and soon series 2 Berlina grille.
