Well this weekend I decided to take on the task of removing all of the Sound deadening. Ended up being very easy. I purchased 30 lbs of of dry ice. Ended up not even breaking it up. Just laid the blocks on the area for a few minutes then hammered away. Came right up. Feels good having a rust free 37 year old floor board.

Spent all day cleaning the new tails and then painting them. Here is the final result installed on the car.

I now have the 71 rear bumper installed. I am sticking with the 73 tails and center garnish though. Turned out great. Still have to send off the bumper for repair and chrome. Also have to clean up the tails. Here is a pic

Well after buying another car for the bumpers i realized they werent the bumpers i wanted. The 73-74 bumpers which i had acquired have several holes in them for additional safety rubbers and structural mounting. Something told me if i was going to do it to do it right so i have been tracking down some earlier 71-72 bumpers which are completely smooth. These are extremely rare and can run $1k-$1500 a set, so for now I just got a rear and will later track down a front. It still has to be sent off for some minor repair and rechroming but i did take some time tonight for a mockup. To make the rear bumper fit new tail light grilles have to be added along with relocating the license plate.

With new tail light grills (dirty)

Looks much better than the massive stock bumpers.

Well Chuck has been sick and I will have to wait a few more weeks to get the fab work done. In the meantime she will continue to collect dust.
