Nice little GT! As for brake upgrades, i think Opel Omega MV6 brakes fit up front, with some modifications (enlargen the centre hole on the disc, and redrill it to 4x98mm, and i think you`d need to make some sort of spacer for the caliper) The Omega MV6 is the same as the Cadillac Catera over there, so shouldnt be too hard to find? I also see several cheap brands making brake kits that fit Opel Ascona\Kadett, but they tend to be pricey.... Got a Omega brake set for the front of one of my cars for a couple of hundred bucks, including steel braided brake hoses PS! The bolts for conrods seem to be kinda crap on old CIH engines like you have, so if they havent been changed, i`d go for ARP replacements
    Shameless whoring of my Opel

really digging the gt, thing is too cool

also loving the rado you had, the seven slots are brilliant, is there a build thread on that?

have a good mate who just picked up a 93 vr6 with 68k original, it's always fun to see what else has been done to them

Not quite sure where you`d find conrod bolts in USA, but i see Summit Racing are selling kits for the 2.0 16v engines, they would probably be able to find bolts for your CIH aswell Seeing as the GT actually has a following stateside Talking about brakes, seems like the early\mid nineties Pontiac GTO is also buildt on the Opel Omega B platform, could be another cheap source of parts for big brakes

sounds good, i went down with a couple of the guys i share the shop with to drop the motor and ran into a problem. i got everything off and ready but the speedo cable which according to the manual i need a special tool to get it out. gonna do some reading and see what i can come up with.

it is a bit of franken motor at the moment so i'll list what is in there now and what is going to be there when i'm done.

Right now it is a GM Europe c24ne block with a highly ported and polished head from the original 1.9L head. the head has been ground to run larger valves and converted to a roller cam setup with billet rockers and HD valve springs. The cam is MASSIVE at 278 duration with a total almost a half an inch of valve lift. I put on a Weber 38 downdraft carb on a ported intake manifold. which basically means i had a bored an stroked built motor.

What i am planning is swapping over all the parts that bolt on to the head on to the head that is supposed to go on the 2.4L c24ne and have it ported. I am doing this because i have a set of intake manifolds for that head to run dual webber 45 sidedrafts. the ports on the heads are slightly different which sucks because it means more work but it means almost double the CFM. I am then thinking about 12 to 1 pistons since the motor started burning a little oil and since i am having the head done i thought i should cover all my bases with some rings and i might as well go high comp. In addition i need to have a custom header and exhaust made that will tuck up to the body for better clearance.

I am hoping this doesn't shatter my axles but we'll see...

Absolutely beautiful man, I've always loved these cars. They're just so unique and special. I'm sure any route you take with this build will be a good choice.

Only thing that turns me off slightly is the stickers on the rear. If you like 'em of course keep 'em, its your damn car! personally I just feel like it clutters up the rear a bit and they look kind of out of place, but that's just me. Can't wait to see what kind of monster this thing turns into

yeah the stickers are coming off, they were put on by the previous owner. I am a bit afraid that they are going to pull the paint off so i am going to wait till i am ready to have the car painted
