    • Love that lip, can't wait to see the e28. Build thread?

      • Thanks. Yeah the lip is really going to complete the front. I took the template off yesterday and now the bumper looks like its missing something. Haha

The e21 is actually my younger brothers project car but I might start a build thread for him on here in the coming days. It's going to be a fun little project.

          • Best Z32 I've seen. I love the wheel/brake setup and that engine bay is simply amazing. A lot of time and effort went into this build - I'm in love.

            • I enjoy your thread, work and car. I like to look at your car with my eyeballs, both of them at the same time. Sometimes I pretend that your car is actually my car. Keep up the good work on my car. Just make sure you bring it back with a full tank.

              More pictures of the BMW.

              • some small updates, since i spent a little time back in the bay. Took the hood off again, and decided i needed to tackle the battery tray shave. A little frustrating because its all new perfect paint under there, but it will be much better looking when all said and done.

I cut out the battery tray and ground down all of the welds that held it in. lots of prep work removing everything down to the metal for this area before i can go in and weld up the holes, and the pass through into the fender.

early process pics so far. many more updates soon once i get the new welding blanket and can start welding everything shut

sad little engine bay. Everything will be back to perfect in a few weeks.

                  • I love the fact that I'm pretty much going to wind up with the same education as yourself - and, my man - I do love your car, also! Give me a couple years and I'll have the funds and skills to maybe, just maybe, pull of a build like yours Keep it up, man!

                      • a little progress. i pulled the rear fascia back off, did all the prep work, masked everything off, and got out the gun and some paint. All done

that was easy. now to bolt it back and place and get the gaps perfect

now for the fun part.. finishing the exhaust and getting it situated on the rear of the car

                          • thank you.
so i went into my good buddies shop to discuss the paint for the small area of the bay. Im going to hopefully finish the welding before christmas, and then i have to disassemble the front of the car and remove the rear fascia, and then a day or two after, she will be all complete.
its going to be a funny drive to the shop with no front bumper, fenders, hood, or rear bumper. swap wheels for the event too. im planning on getting pulled over 3-4 times, and the trip is 1.5 miles.

so 2 or so weeks, and there will be a completed car, ready for the next round of work.
                            -under front end diffuser/skid plate
                            -brake cooling duct completion
-finish the front lip i designed
-modify the throttle cable cover for the current setup
-custom balance tube im going to fab
                            -clock inside
-remove the rest of the PCV system in the car.
                            -finish the exhaust
                            THEN
-start tearing down the second motor, so i can start on the major fabrication for what eventually will go on my motor.

will be parting out the internals of a VG30dett, and using the block/heads/lower intake manifold for a template to mock up parts off of. lots of fun projects to commense, although at this point i am 50/50 about what work i am going to be doing to it. both have never been done before on this motor, so its going to be hush hush till i decide what to do

                            • alright, so the work didnt stop, but the camera situation was down for a few days.

sold my canon xti last week so i could add some better toys to the list of equipment.

picked up a canon 60d, 18-55is, and 50mm 1.4 to add to my current setup. was going to sell the canon 10-22, but i like the lens a lot with the new camera body, so its going to stay in the collection

heres a pic of some of the pieces of the collection taken with the iphone
once i get a suitable sd card for the camera, the pictures of this winters build will commence.

as for work on the z, i welded all the holes shut in the battery tray area, the pass through to the fender shut, undercoated the entire wheel well after it was all done. i took off the front fenders, rear fascia, and front bumper. its almost ready for some paint and will be going the day after christmas.
