yep, thats exactly why i have not made a decision yet.. exactly word for word what has been rolling through my head for the past few months.

time for some test samples i guess. first going to try the blackening on a sample. I have a feeling it will have the elegant simplicity i go with often. we shall see though soon enough.

too much contrast feels to me both new and stylized. not what I am a fan of when building cars. Hoping for the car to age gracefully and retain the original timelessness that I believe it has taken on.. I think the only thing that pinpoints a particular time period at the moment is the rear camber, one of the things i am trying to solve this winter.

Will have SO much contrast with everything else though. Could look like too much. This car is full of elegant, understated touches, the bright white cage of a black/charcoal interior would be like nothing else on the car.

unfortunately I do most of the leather work and do not think i can pull that off cleanly. also, never really liked leather wrapped cages, and thought some paint would rather break it up a little bit as just about every surface is black leather in there.

I have actually been scheming a bit and am planning out a second set of center pads for the carrera GT recaros to liven it up a little. I can swap them back and forth based on my mood that weekend.
if this happens, it will debut with a few other things next season. again, all based on the direction I go with the cage color, as it will affect the color scheme for the additional set of seat pads

I have a feeling I may try to test out #4 on a spare piece of chromoly i have left over, and will decide from there whether its the right move. In my mind, its between the pearl white, and the blackened steel look.

nah, at this point the options are:

    1. the same 3 stage white pearl off the '13 GTR which is the match to the powder on the wheels, and the newly sprayed pieces i have not shown yet to anyone

here is a picture of that same color on a 370z.

    2. gloss black with a metallic flake just to set it off a little. everyone knows what this would look like

    3. cant speak of the color yet, as no one will get why i chose it, but choosing this option will also force me to change the color of the stoptech calipers. Its the most tricky of the 3 options. I will get into further detail shortly if i decide to do this color.

    4. brush the entire surface of the cage by hand, and then tint it either with a gun or by hand in order to achieve a "blackened steel" look. in reality, it would look similar to the way it does right now, but will have a much more even toning, be a slight bit darker, and have the "brushed aluminum" look. here are some examples of the technique

White definitely brings some light to the interior. It's very clean and so well put together, but it just seems really dark.
