Here's something pretty cool. Today at work the welder guy gave me a a present. He said he was cleaning his garage and he found that:
He said he bought it years ago and he totally forgot about it. Gave it to me for free! I'm super stoked right now! Its a Garrett T25 from a turbo Pontiac Sunbird, didn't have the time to clean it today to find the A/R, but visually it looks to be the right size for a 2.0 haha.Last edited by Rocambolesque; 02-03-2012, 05:35 PM.

The days are getting longer, everyday I think about getting the car ready for the end of march and scrape the pavement once again. So I re-started working on the car again.
First I got myself a new grille and a new chrome emblem. I also re-painted the little strip. I managed to get a good finish on the paint even if its from a can... I was amazed when I saw the gloss haha. Then I por-15'd the headlights brackets and found put stainless adjuster screws since the old ones were stripped... This is the result:
They also have the city lights in them now.
I got a free diverter valve from a friend who used to have a 1.8t Passat. So far this turbo build has cost me 0$
I'm still working on cleaning that turbo up. Every single bolt/fitting is either stripped or seized. I still managed to get all of the hotside studs out with some heat. This will now recieve a v-band adapter for the downpipe.
Porsche horn button for my Momo wheel
Tomorrow my manifold should be here, and my 30# injectors should be here soon too.

I recieved the ebay manifold and the Bosch 30# injectors yesterday. One of the injectors is missing a cap, I know.
Now here's the downside with this manifold. When you go on ebay you see that you can get the exact same manifold either in T25 or T3 flavor. But apparently the only difference is the bolt holes location, because that square hole is too big for the T25... My friend who is also doing an ABA turbo build for his Rabbit got a T3 turbo, with the T3 manifold, and the hole is still to large.
Maybe I can port that turbo inlet or something for a better flow, or maybe I'll run it like that, I don't know yet... Next on the list of things to buy is the intercooler, C2 software and boost gauge, after that its only a million of couplers, clamp and pipe sections, that will probably nickel-and-dime me to death hahaha.

Lil' update from last weekend:
I finished painting my rad support. Bottom part with POR-15 and tup part with high temp gloss black epoxy. I also polished the hood catch again.
I also refinished the wastegate actuator with the remaining POR-15 I had in the bottom of the can. From this:
to this:
Threw the front end on the car and took it for a drive finally. Damn repop grille fits bad, but it'll do the job...

After the last update, I decided to sort out the wiring in the car. Basically I was running the whole mk3 harness minus the headlights part + the mk2's fan and light harness. With such a setup, about half of the wires were doubles. I got myself a mk3 headlight harness and went to town.
Then I removed the fusebox and said to myself "what the fuck did I get myself into?" The car was running perfectly before that hehehe...
More spaghetti
Cool thing about the mk3 harness. You run it under the rad support instead of on the top of the firewall. This way you don't see it in the bay. I still have to finish that part though, I got myself relays for the lights that I have to build the harness for.
Soldered a few wires, sprayed the manifold in oem silver and slapped everything back together. Started on the first try!
Next weekend I build the headlights harness, change the oil, slap the "spring" wheels on (the steelies) and crank the coils down half an inch. Then its going to be ready for daily duty for another 8 months.Last edited by Rocambolesque; 03-25-2012, 06:09 PM.

I like my Eurosport. The sound is deep and smooth, no drone at all (I have the cat though). But its not as loud as I would like hahaha. However, if you buy one, don't plan on driving during the winter. I drove the car in the snow only once, and the welds on the stainless muffler rusted. If I had to do it all again, I'd go with a Techtonics/Borla in stainless steel. A friend of mine has one on his Rabbit, the sound is amazing.
