67 GT500 build

I couldn't help but go through the entire thing (I sort of got sucked into it). First, your attention to detail is incredible. I had no idea there were so many discrepancies between the original movie cars and the reproduction cars (any comments on the accuracy of the GT500E's?). Secondly, I applaud you for doing so much of the work yourself. It looked like no small feat to get class A fitment on those fiberglass parts. It must be that much more satisfying getting behind the wheel. Speaking of which, I am really pleased to have read a few times that your driving the wheels off of it! I feel cars of this nature are generally squirreled away somewhere (or driven rarely). A seriously inspiring build man... going through that thread really separates this from just being "another Eleanor clone".

the gt500e built by unique performance was not very accurate at all. they molded the body kits on, they used the wrong wheels, mirrors, hood, stripes are too far apart, headlights are wrong, exhaust tips are wrong, they used the wrong gas cap and the position is wrong and their pepper gray is also off. thats just the outside, the interiors are not even close either.

Have you ever heard of Revved Automotive? The guy rebuilds the Unique Performance GT500-E cars since most of them were so poorly put together. He is one of my customers, I actually just did a full shoot on a 1000hp Super Snake two weeks ago:

Awesome build, very impressed by your attention to detail and thoroughness throughout the whole process. I go to school at RPI, hope I'll see this rolling around the capitol region sometime.

after hanging out with the guys from vintage motorsports a couple of weeks ago the owner mike convinced me that the car could really go to another level with a second colorsand/buff now that the paint has fully cured over the winter. So today we started on it.



up bright and early on a foggy morning


spent about $50 on painters tape to make clean up as hassle free as possible.



the 3m 1/4 in tape works great for taping over bodylines



some before shots, again not too bad but could be better.

The car isn't done yet, but ill be going over the car again with a foam pad to get everything thorough and putting a few coats of wax on it.
