    • Whats the use of a welding positioner?

      • NorCalFocus- Thanks for the offer, but I think it's just about apart finally.

deutschman- It helps to tig round stuff (pie cuts) and speeds up everything. Going to use it for the exhaust on car/ bikes, frames, and well anything I can really.

So does it just help hold and rotate/turn work pieces, kinda like a third hand? Why would you need such a complex system for that?

          • My guess is so you can sit in one comfortable position while the part rotates for you. Instead of having to stop/start your welds and reposition the part and/or yourself each time. That way you could do one complete weld all the way around a pipe.

            • Pretty much what anth said, you can do a perfect circle without having to adjust. I'm doing it just for fun right now on my 02 parts, but if it seems realistic I might start making parts to help fund the car.

                    • When I read "400 lbs of steel for new tables," I thought you meant you had started making tables for people. I was very upset because that doesn't pertain to your car, but since it is to hold tools and what not, I'll allow it. Carry on.

                        • Man this thread is just too awesome, wish I had only half of your skills man. You should definitly make some DIY threads, could probably get money out of that at some point. Keep going!
Remember when cars were built, not bought? Pepperidge farm remembers.

                          • Thanks everyone! Damn these tables took a ton of time and I used almost all the metal, but they are just what I had in mind. Aiming to get the rest of the stuff mounted, shelfs, and have it painted this week. I'm overall really happy with how they turned out.
