Not sure what the owner will do. Car has a fully built 500+ hp motor that's going in. I hope it sees some track time.

do you use a stress analysis/CAD program like Solidworks for the design or just experience?

No solidworks. Just experience and follow the rule books for whatever sanctioning body the car is going to be used in. FD, scca, nhra etc. Would love to learn how to use solid works as I think it's a great tool to have and the program is phenomenal.

Nice nice. I used it in school for doing the roll cage and frame design for a baja car. shit was SO helpful. it tells you how much the cage will weigh, how many cuts are needed. really cool.

But it seems like you know whats up : )

                            i assume chromoly tubing?

No chromo. I honestly don't think it's worth the extra money. Sure it may save a couple pounds cause you can use a thinner wall but chromo work hardens over time and becomes fragile and will crack and if it's not fully backpurged when welding you run more of a risk of cracking. Dom is the standard in nearly any sanctioning body, fairly inexspensive and easy to work with. Not to mention it's more than capable than withstanding any type of crash.

I did the same, I weighed out the benefits and the neg and it did not add up to go with chrom. I am glad some others agree with that decision also.
