haven't been able to get to the metal yard to get some materials for the coilovers, so those aren't done, but I have made a touch of progress.
De-bumpered the rear
shaved down the mounting tabs for the rear plastics and removed the sealer and paint from the bumper shock mounting points to glass them over only to find I was out of hardener
Also got tired of seeing my blinkers zip tied on. Way too ghetto. Once I get a new valance I think I'm going to mount them like this, but that said I just did a really rough outline/cut to see what It would look like. Kinda hammered the obvious damage out of the valance too.
That's it for now!

This one's from a couple weeks ago, but one of my spring perches broke in the back and DUMPED one corner of the car haha.
Wound up fixing that like a man by busting out a torch, anvil and sledge hammer and re-shaping the perch seat.
In other news, I'm building coilovers for the front. I have Koni adjustable shocks, so the front will be both height and dampening adjustable. Brennan (airkooled) and I brainstormed over a few beers last night and came up with a way to get more shock travel by building new top hats (pretty similar to Rusty Slammington's front top hats.) Also converting to sleeve-type "coilovers" in the front with small-diameter springs. So here's the factory (mostly) setup.
This was an extra front assembly I had from Ratty, which I cut up as a trial run so that I get it right when I use mine. This will be a permanent change so I want it to be right! The existing spring perch has to be cut off
In the pic I have also already removed a bit of material from the outer diameter of the housing with a grinder because the sleeves don't clear by just a hair. I'll be boring the inner diameter of the sleeves out with a brake caliper hone to make them fit. Therefore, there are no more pictures of that going on, but I think I'll be doing the new front setup next weekend since I should have Saturday off.
Also, still need a valance. Went to the junk yard today but there were none to be found. I forsee this being a problem soon...Last edited by C-Hutch; 03-18-2012, 08:48 PM.

yeah man they aren't much. and that was for EVERYTHING. upper control arms, lower control arms, tie rod ends, tie rods, etc etc etc. Even the rear bushings and stuff. And they aren't hard to install either, provided you have a good selection of kinda large wrenches.
