Yes actually China and Japan do make VERY different products... I'm surprised you would make that comparison.

You won't get what you paid out of them, but you will get back a good chunk of change. Either cut your losses or you live with what you've got, which really doesn't sound like something you really want to do.

Put your old setup back in. Save for quality coils, that aren't made in China, and that will actually go low. Then sell these coils since they are new some one will buy them.

JOM is made in Germany... is suppose china and japan make such different components than each other? GC is made in japan.

tons of people love these coils. and run them, i just do not like the way they sit.

and i doubt ill get what i paid out of it...

I bet your "knock" is the head needing a valve adj. Mine sounds terrible but it's just the valves but I'm thinking 2.5 swap soon so the 2.7 might just stay like it is lol

A knock is usually a bottom end noise, generally rod or main bearing issues. These sometimes make the motor sound mechanically like a diesel.

A tick or tap is mostly from the top end, head and valve train. These are things that you can relate to timing component wear and valve adjustment.
