I've thought about leaving a note in her mail box(she probably goes out to check it at 3am when no one can see her) just to let her know I'll buy it if she wants to get rid of it. But I reckon she'll either die in that house and it'll just disappear as she has zero relatives now, or she'll sell the house and it'll go with it. I'd like it as I've known about the car since I was a kid when her mum cleaned our house and it was the same year and colour as mine was....plus 2 owner, low k cars like that are getting harder to find as you say.

Yours looked like an angry little beast.....they're definitely cool little rigs!

Shame man, examples like that are rare to come by. And like you said about the beetles, mini prices are climbing as well. My mate with the 1300 just picked up a morris deluxe for a pretty steep amount. Mind you it did have some good gear (1380 motor, bare metal respray, shitload of spare parts) but it was in pieces. Even Cooper S' are hitting as high as 30g and selling. Crazy compared to what it was only 4 years ago when I first bought mine.

I love Mini's, my dad had an early one when I was in grade 1....and I had one as a daily for about a year. It was great fun and it was just a stock later model('78).

An old lady that used to clean our house when I was a kid gave one to her daughter when she got her license when the car was only 2 years old(also a '78). Not long after she became one of those people that never left the house(and still doesn't in her 50's). It was then driven a couple of times a year by the father until he couldn't drive anymore in the mid 90's, and it's sat in the garage since then with around 30k on the clock. The mother said I could have it one day as she'd love to see it back on the road, but she died last year unfortunately and the daughter is a complete whacko, so my hopes of getting it are gone.

Main thing is to get it running and on the road really. But so far, flat floor plans, narrowed beam, wide rims then a whole bunch of small details.

Yeah, as much as I enjoy the liberty I really want to be back in an old car again. My biggest regret was selling my mini. Hands down the funnest car I've ever driven and not just because of the power. I've driven stock mini's and there so much fun to drive. And I learnt so much more working on that car then what I would on the liberty.
