oh don't get me wrong, small wide wheels i love too, especially on older Japanese cars. Somehow on E30s though i just don't think it works as well. It is all in the execution but in the flesh i find 16s just right.
I always think of this guy's car in these links. Don't want to actually embed the pics since it is post your ride thread..:

i reckon the 15s look a bit small, 16s are in propertion and 17s would look 'big' but not outrageous. It also depends on wheels style. Your Borbets look big since they are a true-size face and are pretty full-faced too. Unlike step lip 3pce like above which has a 14" face and a 15" face per size.
And i guess to be on topic, one quick pic of mine how it looks at the moment :-/

style of wheel, colour of wheel, tyre size and lows all play a part in if a car can pull of a certain sizeSarcasm is easily calculated on vortex dude. Take 4 parts GLI lip and divide by BBS RS. If you are left with a remainder, subtract it from omgmoarlow. Profit.
