Hi all,

My name is Scott Newell and I am a new freelance auto photographer, my company is called Violet Mae||Studios (www.violetmaestudios.smugmug.com or www.facebook.com/violetmaestudios) and I am a huge car enthusiast. I have been into the car scene for many years now and have modified several vehicles during that time. I am also the founder of an auto show in Denver CO called 5280Fest (www.5280fest.com) and shoot for a local Euro magazine in Denver called Euroberge (www.euroberge.com).

My car modding journey begin over 10 years with a 99 Grand Prix GTP 10 years ago and I have since modded a Volvo S60, Mercedes ML, Acura TL, Audi S4, and my current ride a Lexus IS350.

I created this thread to showcase my work, get some feedback (to help me grow as a photographer), and to answer any questions.

Great shots! I skipped straight to the photos and thought some of those places looked familiar, then I looked and saw you were from Denver as well
Definitely hope to be at that level someday, some awesome stuff. The Evora and E92 shots look like Mt. Evans?

Thanks for the comments man. I looked at your flicker page and you have some very nice work so I am sure your auto pics will be great too! I am from Denver and yes the Evora and M3 were shot at 15,000 ft. at Mt. Evans.

You have alot of great photos, any chance you could give me some suggestions in my thread, I believe its only a few down from yours titled Just starting out...

Imo, the pictures that are somewhat close up of the cars have a weird car/ background ratio. For instance, the 3rd pic down on your second picture post just looks like it was cropped oddly. Again though, just my opinion and the pictures as a whole look awesome!

Thanks for the feedback and I would a agree with your comment and have actually been stepping back further now to get more perspective.

Currently I am shooting with a D7000 and my go to lens is a 24-70 2.8. Looking to get the 70-200 2.8 soon and waiting for the D800 to come out.

Awesome stuff. I did the same as cophotog and skipped to pictures and started seeing familiar places and cars like the blue m6 from the great outdoors meets. I was at 5280 fest pretty sweet turnout. Wish i could take photos like these. You should give me some pointers some time. haha :P.
Also recognized some shots from the euroberge morning drive i wanted to make it out but was unable to... maybe some day i can shoot some for euroberge...

to be honest, I dont like any of our photos. I see you have a good camera but, thats it.

I think you are too close to the cars, try to take some steps back and get more out of the car, for example, http://violetmaestudios.smugmug.com/...-NZBPdgF-M.png

You can't see the whole front, and instead of looking at the car I only look on the background
