so me and the wife agreed on a nikon d3100. it comes with the standard 18-55mm lens as well as a 55-200mm lens all for 860 with an awesome backpack bag and a storage card. she is really excited and so am i. i can finally get some good shots of the car and of my family. ive already started to look for a good macro lens to get her for christmas. thanks for the advice and once i get it ill shoot a few shots for u guys to critique
wow... learned some very interesting things on lighting up a car at night, as I don't want to spend an absolute ton of money on lighting equipment. I currently shoot with a cannon 60D with an 18-135 if-S lens.

I got one of those $20 cordless LED shop lights..... ... . and now any exposure over 0.8 seconds is just a total white out....
..... What should I set the amperature to??? ......... the ISO setting was at 3200,,, ,, what should it be set at for a 30 sec exposure and light painting???

Your ISO setting is why it was blown out. Set your ISO at 100, shutter speed at 15"-30", and then change your aperture accordingly to help control how much light is in the picture.
