Why does my "Prosumer" Olympus C-8080 take better pictures then my Canon 40D SLR?

Not saying it isn't just saying remember proper lenses for wrong situations won't be an ample shot either.

Quality control is definitely an issue, but a good copy of a Canon lens against a good copy of the Sigma equivalent is usually so close that you can't tell the difference. It's rare that anyone really gets to compare the quality of the 2 in person (who would really?) but they're usually quite close.

      L Primes are another story.

Vic, I would say you're correct with most general lenses and not top tier glass.

I like the new Sigma 85. I also like the 50 1.4. If I was on a budget I'd own both instead of the Canon 1.2s.

This is terrible advice. Awful, horrible, bad, advice.

Also, depending on what you shoot that lens isn't a very good choice. Cars, I like to use a 50-250 lens. People, the 28-80 is ok... The biggest thing is are you using the auto settings or the p,tv,av,m?
i only have an 18-55 and a 50 1.8. so i am thinking that maybe my next lens will be a 24-105. i have played around with one of those and really really like it.

but i agree with above. not any picture will look great with photoshop, a good picture is a good picture regardless of editing. editing is meant to enhance, not to repair.

            also how is tokina glass?
