Think this is a good way to to end this thread. Thanks for the perspective Dylan.

I think, for the most part, this has been a real healthy conversation and I thank everyone who handled their responses in a mature fashion. It shows that despite our different opinions, we can all come to the table and have a discussion without getting ugly. I hope this is something we can maintain and things continue to grow.

    Bravo to the above point.

Also, since when are Vans and Nikes the 'legit' shoes to have? Is this 7th grade again?

Someone is always going to have more money/nicer stuff than the next person, so who really gives a shit? If you someone is happy with their car, then I dont see the big deal. I agree some people mod their cars terribly, but what gives you the right to judge them? All it does it make you look like a an asshole elitist and the group looks just as bad because everyone thinks that they are a bunch of assholes.

Furthermore, I am sure I could point out faults in nearly everyones car here, and I am sure everyone could do the same for mine, but what does that prove, really?

EDIT: I should mention that I have worn sneakers/athletic shoes pretty much my whole life. I wore them because they are comfortable and look good, not because I wanted to prove to people how 'fresh' I am. Judging people by their shoes/cars/whatever is pretty fucking stupid IMO, and its a piss poor attitude to have if people will only be accepted by showing that they have a lot of money to blow on what is frankly unimportant at the end of the day.

Read through most of the thread. I think embracing everyone is important, their will always be people with horribly put together cars.

In the end, trying to be original is the biggest bandwagen going, most people aren't willing to just say "hey, I like how that car looks, if mine looks the same thats cool, because I like it regardless"

Instead everyone says "wow that car looks awesome, but now I can't run those wheels or that part because its been done"

Personally, I love the idea of being original, but I will never sacrifice what I like for it, so my car's usually end up being terribly unoriginal ( e30 slammed on bbs with euro parts, corrado slammed on bbs, e30 slammed on d90's wtih euro parts)

I once rocked a rusted hood, roof racks, half ass mono wiper and a euro plate reading shitbox on my old car, and you know what, it was fun. It didnt cost me fuck all ( spare hood and whatnot) and it got looks. I got bored of it after a month and changed the car again.

I'm on both sides I guess, some cars I find really pull off the rusted hood/ ratty look. Others don't. So what if were getting a bad rep from people because their are cars that look like crap or have a bunch of cheap parts? Why does it matter what other people think? I'm all for real 3 piece wheels and what not, and I agree with work they can be had cheap. But I also wouldn't mind a set of diamond racing steelies too. Sure their cheap, and in reality its just a steel wheel, but I like the look, and don't car if its been done before.

No offense sean, but throughout this thread you sound like an elitist. saying things like " fuck fake shit, in all aspects of life" just doesn't sit right with me.

I rock 10 dollar aviators, why? because I lose my sunglasses or scratch them all the time, thats why I don't buy real ones. At the same time I build real 3 piece wheels that I sink 2-3k into. I just prefer well built wheels and I know I can resell them for decent money. With sunglasses I don't feel the same, I can't sell em, and I'm sure I will break them, so why should I waste my money?

I love/ loved this forum because people were open and encouraging to new people trying to get some stance. From this thread I still see those people, but I also see the classic bfc bmw elititest's coming out. I **** that, if a car has good fitment I will likely love it, regardless of fake wheels and rusted parts.

I thought this forum was about fitment, not about clean cars. Not that I dislike clean cars, but I love a rusted out bucket slammed on wheels just as much, it just shows so much character. Some people can't afford it, and some just don't want to have a super nice car.

Like myself, I purposely bought a car that was decent, instead of a perfect car, why? because I **** worrying about a car, and I like driving them hard, I also want to get into some track stuff, and don't see why I need a perfect car for that.

Not sure where I really went with that all, but all im saying is why can't we all just be cool with what someone else does, odds are the rusted hood and fake wheels are the only one within 100 miles from them anyways, thats original enough for me.

RB Motoring and MemoryFab are just 2 of many websites that offer a HUGE wheel selection for good prices, especially if you're interested in rebuilding/refinishing wheels (in reference to the guy who needs really low offset wheels)

What I was saying was that I DON'T know where to find high quality low offset 17"+ wheels so I just posted up what I knew I could find quickly and easily. Bigger knockoffs are also more expensive than smaller knockoffs! lol

I looked for a month for the Koseis (my friend actually put them up for sale on our local forum and I gave him the deposit that day, but I was still looking for a month ) and I looked for about 6 months for the BBSs, 5+ times a week checking all the websites I knew. I was thissssss close to buying white/red OZ 15x8 ( I think) OZ Superturismos but someone beat me to them, now I'm happy I found my RSs instead!

14x6 +7 Enkeis that just need a little refurbishing love for TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS:

14x7 +20/14x7 +1 SSR Reverse Mesh that need a little refurb love, $650

    16x7 +43 RPF-1s, perfect condition, $600

18x8 OZ Ultraleggeras with tires, $1000

The deals are out there, just look for them. It's not hard.

Also, spacers and adapters are your friends.

    Don't fake the funk.
    Gotta pay to play.
    etc.
    etc.
    etc.

Modding cars is not cheap. You're not the only person scrounging together $$ to pay for bills, rent, school, car repairs, etc. etc. etc. If you don't have the money to do something right, don't do it at all (my opinion on the matter).

I'm not going to coach you into what wheels to buy for your car, I'm just saying in the context of this thread that fake wheels or half-assed cars don't get you anywhere in "teh stance sc3ne." There's a reason there is not a thread about my car besides my build thread.... that's because it's not done yet. Wait it out, it'll all come with hard work and time.
lol yeah it's funny how 16's can look donk on some things and smalllll on something else. well see now 14-16 are just too small. my stock's are 16's, and while they aren't tiny, if I were to buy new wheels I might as well go 17 to fill out a little more and for more tire options.

I'd also go wider if possible, but not smaller. 7 wide is too small for the fronts, I would keep the stocks then. stock is 8 wide front 9 wide rear. I know it's a lot of time and money, and I accept that. I'm not going to be buying knock offs don't worry, I'm just saying. hell even those OZ,s...8 wide +48.... I'd need a 95mm spacer out back

I mean I know the deals are out there. If i had a miata or something like that I could get some gnarly deals on wheels all day long, but for my widebody, there's just not that kinda stuff out there. I'm looking for between 9 and 10.5 wide rears, and 8 or 9 wide fronts. 7 wide's are too small even for my fronts. 17 or 18 tall and 8-10.5 wide, in negitive offsets. thats the thing, to even run spacers I still need low low offsets without using a rediculous spacer. i don't wanna use anything bigger than a 30mm spacer...a conquest buddy had 50mm spacers and he said they handled like ass, cause no one makes hubcentric 50mm he said.

I find deals out there everyday that are awesome, and for most cars, they are the perfect example of why you should never touch knock off's, cause they're that cheap. But I've yet to find a set right for me. Trust me I check zilvia every day, It's not that I'm not looking.

But yes, I agree in most cases, there are no reason for knock offs. hell even in my bind for specs, I am buying "real" brand wheels. I'm getting Boss, a sister company to american racing. The wheels are made for muscle cars, and have low offset due to the wide slicks they tend to run, but even though they are a real brand they are probably the same quality and same heavy weight as knocks. I do have my saving fund slowly growing waiting for them light wheels in the perfect specs...they will pop up for sale one day... haha

now I agree with most things in here, but I just wanna throw this: what if we can't find low enough offset? kramerbuccs24, you say you got some 15x7's for cheaaap, which is awesome, but what about a car like myself that requires LOW offset? hell my stock sunken wheels are 9 wide zero offset and they need a 30mm-35mm spacer to flush out. I have looked for weeks, and I've yet to find a cheap pair of real wheels, 17 or 18", in such low offsets. To even use spacers, I still need a low offset wheel. If I where to use a 9 inch rear, I'd still need pretty much a zero offset wheel to space, because flush for me is like -25 or -30mm on a 9 wide. all the nicely priced cheap real wheels are small (15 or 16), narrow (I Ideally want 9 front 10.5 rear), or high offset. and by high, I mean +12 on a 9 rear or something like that. front for me is easier, a 9 wide -4 would be flush so that isn't too bad, but the rear gets me. My rear to be flush is 9 wide -28, 10.5 wide -15, ect

I'd love to find a good deal on real wheels but for my specs it seems knock offs or real expensive wheels are my only good choices. I found a set of Muscle car wheels with low offset that I will be purchasing for cheap, but the weight and quality are probably that of a knock off wheel, even though they are made by a "real" company.

I continue to save though, I will get some custom spec light weight wheels one day. Maybe not the gold LM20's I dream of, but something...

    FWIW
