The more I browse here the more obvious it is why everyone else likes to make fun of "us".

The scene has gotten so repetitive and cheap its ridiculous. Stickers and rust a substitute because you can't afford paint? Really?

Just to clear up any confusion, if you buy a cheap car, rust, sticker, roof rack and cheap wheel it... You still have a piece of shit. That combination does not equal a badass car. Also, stating the facts about said cars, does not and will never make me a *****.

For a scene all about being different it sure is a whole lot of the same shit goin on. There's a solid chance I stand alone on this, and thats just fine.

For those of you taking the time and spending the money to actually do somethin with your car, thank you.

Sean I could not agree more with you, the number of people who go out there, and buy reps because they "can't afford" real wheels is disgusting, in some and I mean VERY few cases I can understand it, but come on people you don't have to be like every other damn car, and get the same wheels, be original go out there buy some OEM wheels off craigslist, you can get amazing deals by doing that, refinish them or what have you, and be happy and be original.

In regards to paint, RUST DOESN'T ALWAYS LOOK GOOD, I can't stress this enough, your 2002 BMW 323i does NOT look good with a rusted hood, nor does that MkV, if the paint is in crappy shape, put some effort into it, compound it, polish it, wax it, whatever, I have seen the worst paint on a 91 Civic SI go to butter smooth because of some elbow grease. Put some effort into your cars guys, it will repay you down the line.

Just because you don't have tons of money doesn't mean you can't do this scene right, you can find awesome deals on forums, craigslist, junkyards, local shops, etc. You just have to be willing to actually search and not settle for the replica fake stuff. If you aren't willing to put the effort in, you don't belong in this scene, I am sorry but its the hard truth, be willing to do your car right the first time, you should have to buy "interim" wheels because you can't afford the wheels you want right now. Just save your money (shocking concept that one is).

Look at my car for example, I can't afford wheels right now, I could get some crappy XXR rep's, but want to do it right, sure I feel like my car looks silly right now dumped on stock wheels, but thats ok because I know that in the future because I saved now, and I am looking for a deal, that it will reward me SO much more to buy the real thing, and I will feel like my car is that much better, and I will be even more proud of it.

You guys are free to say I have no room to talk because I drive a POS Integra, but I know exactly what I want to do with it, I know what its going to take to get me there, and I refuse to settle for anything else.

Nope. I'm a big proponent of quality, innovative work.

I'm also glad you threw in the bit about "*****". Such a ridiculous concept

Sean I see where you are 100% where you are coming from.. Its one of those things where like I have heard a million times "Stance is just a fad untill the next thing comes along."

For the people buying a car that is cheap and rusting a panel or two, stickerbombing a lip and putting cheap wheels on, then calling it a day, I too see this as a kick in the face to the guys who take time to do things properly... But at the end of the day there is always that little thing "To each his own."

I recently picked up an EH civic (EG sedan) for $250.. As a bit of fun I'm going to slap some stickers on it, convert all the stuff I have aquired for my EG over time onto it and roll it to the SW meet Im organising down here.. The whole build will cost me under $400 and a couple slabs of alcohol for the mates that decide to help me out.. Im only doing it to try and bring together the small community down here... But that is why that car will have a little character.

There wont be any rust involved since the only damage is on the drivers side guard and bar.. But that can be cleaned up.

I still have the long term project sitting in the garage.. One day it will blow minds... For now it will sit where it has for years. Money doesnt grow on trees, and to aquire enough to build cars the way I want them, working takes up the time I should be putting towards working on them.

I also have the Daily.. Which isnt as clean or as flush as I would like, But roll proudly with an SW sticker down the side of the windscreen, to represent the underlying community that is StanceWorks...

All in all, I pretty much agree with Sean, Have notices a fair bit of shit slapped together of late, but even if thats how everyone else sees it, I'm still happy to look past it.

                no such car...

also i ran a rusted hood on my 00 e46 sedan for a bit as a joke since i had the extra hood laying around..but ive never ran FAKE WHEELS..or plan too..ive always rocked nothing but BBS oem wheels but still BBS..or Hamman,VETTE wheels Etc.
and if i could spend more money on my car and make it look half as good as others i would but cant i have a daughter and bills...Etc to pay for and support....so i cant but i still try and dont regret anything ive done to my car/s.

I wasn't referring to you haha, I just picked 2 cars with modern lines that I think would look dreadful with rusted hoods.

I'm with you Sean. I've always thought stickerbombing parts like front lips was tacky. I didn't say anything at first because the few people doing it made it relatively unique.....but then it became commonplace. And don't even get me started on the people who put a roof rack on their car just because it "looks cool" and never plan on actually attaching a bike to it. No, it doesn't look cool. It looks like a roof rack. Nissan Xterras come with them. As for rusted parts......I think older cars can pull the look off. But now i'm seeing people rust perfectly nice body parts on newer model cars and it looks silly. If you have an '85 VW Rabbit and it's already busted......sure.....rust away. But if your rocking a new $25,000 GTI......lets give it about 15 years before you start ruining the body panels.

I couldn't agree more. Cheap rep wheels and overly done rust just looks stupid. Older cars can pull off rust to a certain amount but rusting out a newer car is just stupid. It seams like people are just finding cheap ways in the stance scene. They want a set of rs wheels but don't want to pay $2,000 hey, just buy reps and throw bbs caps on. They scratch a body pannel or mess up de-badging it, just rust that part out. Don't want to spend the money on a coilover set up to go low just cut the springs.

Watch how you talk about cut springs, someone very important on here has had 2 very well known cars on cut springs.

I know lol but people cutting springs on cars that have coilover setups out there is just stupid. Fork out the money and buy them or don't go low.
