  • Where do you get your Mod money?

I don't know, I guess it's taboo to talk about it, so only share if you like, but there's a TON of really nice cars on this forum, and it seems like a majority of members build their masterpiece part by precious part saved up for weeks or month at a time, and some others just have a gob of cash that they can drop on everything to complete their car within a month or so.

Personally since I moved out of my folks place, modding has all but come to a depressing halt for myself. I took the money I had invested and made a pseudo career choice spending of it and bought myself a HD camcorder and built an editing computer thus pushing the dreams of a stanced ride further into the stratosphere.

At this point I'm trying to manage ways of even being able to set aside a few bucks here and there to save up for stuff, but it seems like life gets in the way every time and I have to raid the savings account...

How about you guys, any secrets to how you afford building your ride?

I used to have some savings that I dipped into for these beat-ass coilovers, but I blew it all on hookers and blow. Living at home for the summer, so no bills. But I'm working full-time for this guy running for governor, so no real time to get a job either.

I'm trying to sell a couple bikes, and a set of wheels, but nobody is buying

Dammit george, why didnt you tell me about these bikes before I bought that beat ass 1973 jc penney bike?! ya bastard. (not to say that I don't love the bike )

But as for mod money, I'm saving up all of this summer just for a set of k-sports. Rent and bills kill me. I have a bit of money set aside, but I can't touch it because I'm going to have to pay off upwards of $50,000 in student loans when I graduate next year. Hopefully then I can get a legitimate job and get my hands on an E34.

            I have a sponsorship.

            My wallet.

I've lived on my own since I was 19, have no college degree, and i'm doing damn well all things considered. Even after paying all my bills (rent, car payment, car insurance, cell phone, utilities, credit card bill(s), groceries, etc etc) I still have a pretty good chunk of change to play around with each month. I recently put a $4,400 down payment on my new car without even flinching. This time last year I was overdrawn by $600.00 due to the fact that I got laid off....so needless to say, this past year has been great in terms of my new job/financial situation.

But it's crazy.....on all the forums i'm on I see all these 18-22 year old college kids with REDICULOUSLY nice cars.....there is no way they can afford these cars with a bs partime college job.....so it's gotta be mommy and daddy helping alot too. But eh, it's whatever. I enjoy my personal belongings more because I pay for everything myself, so theres no one to hold it above my head.

I hear ya on the college kid thing. I'm 24 and have a 2 year degree and have been paying for everything since I was 18 when I got my first job. I make decent money, but it's just not enough to cover mods when I have such a high car payment plus ins payment. I just moved out last December so it was the last thing that I was not paying for until now. So like I said, it's just ridiculous to me to see kids who have like a part time job and a slammed e46 with 4k in wheels and suspension...

Oh well, it's easy to get jealous on the internet I suppose, and I just need to think more positively and be more grateful that I have a lot of really nice stuff and a good job to begin with.
