Feeling Kinda Lost Lately....

Same here man, I was never really motivated in high school but still did better than average. Once I got to college and had to pay for school that I wasn't really interested in....... it just got old quick.

I guess this is a growing trend. I graduated last year from HS. I did piss poor and partied way to much. I ***** school. I don't feel that HS did anything for me. I took a lot of BS classes like Art (4x), Pottery (2x), Forestry(2x plus advanced studies) and Home ec. I have no idea, what I would like to go to college. The only thing I care about is cars, boobies, xbox, and tattooes/body mods.

If anything I would like to go to school for business or Automotive. I would love to work some where like BFI or Eurowise. I would love to own my own tattoo parlor and have celebrity artist come in and work. Have day to day themes, and discount tattoo on those days.

No worries, Im 30 this October and I feel the same. Just roll with it and keep moving forward and if your work is not challenging you keep up with your schooling.

Even when you think you have someing in your sights, things change. I just left a career of 7yrs due to the given market and pretty much started over.

Couldn't say it better, there are people much older and established that are trying to figure out what they are doing. I'm 25 and still hunting for that enjoyment career/job.

Wherever you end up going degree wise, just don't say no to a opportunity. I'm not saying like that Jim Carey movie but don't turn down an opportunity without taking a look into it. That will help you out tremendously, cause that cliche is true man about who you know. But you need to back it up when someone goes out on a line for you.

Hell I moved from Dallas where I had a nice job that I enjoyed but there was no savings happening so I took a career transfer back to Alaska to get something going. I sometimes think about if that was the right move and not just picking up and doing my own photography on the side. Would've been the perfect spot to do that, doorman hand out my photo cards then rake cash in the slow seasons of the hotel life. Live and learn though.

You guys have def helped me a lot. And as far as that UTI, Wyotech, etc. thing my friend was gunna go to UTI, but he is taking a year off and interning at a performance shop, and then going to school, so I feel that going to school for two years much like wheelfetish is doing is what he should do. He loves working on cars, and really I don't see how UTI can do that much, seeing as we have done so much already. I will def talk to him about going to school, perhaps where you go @wheelfetish, cause he is my best friend so then we can still be close and have some good times with meets and such.

Yeah that was another one of my possibilities, speaking of oppurtunities, there are a lot of advancement oppurtunities at the retail store i'm at. My boss, as a loss prevention manager, makes a pretty good living. He's on salary and probably makes about 50-60K a year. Which is pretty damn good i think. And I definately love my job lol never a dull moment.

Well kinda in the same situation. 23 had a pretty good jon with an Environmental consulting Firm for the past 3 years and just got layed off last week. Kinda fell into it 3 years ago and stayed cause it paid well. Always ***** it. Work on cars part time on the side doing fender work/installs/etc. I just had an offer accepted for a property and now im trippin ballz cause i donno how ima pay for it and at the same time i really don't wanna back out. I've changed what i've wanted to do with my life so many times i lost count. I simply just get bored very fast. Once i learn something it's just meh, i just have no drive to do the same BS everyday, week in and week out. Same with you, cars is the ONLY thing that i have ever done that i could literally do every day and never get bored. Reguardless if you are doing the same thing every car is different. So what i've decided to do is just focus on my passion for cars, learn as much as i can that i don;t already know and learn to specialize in certain things that not many people know. If you're just gonna be working in a tire shop then sure i'd say thats a dead end carreer. Just try different things and im sure you'll find something you love doing day in and day out.

hell when the economy was prosperous, my step dad was pulling in 60-70k a year working as a tech @ honda. Hes got 30 yrs under his belt i am egging it on him to apply at porsche or BMW but hes a typical Okie and is too scared to change.

Kinda have the same problem too, haven't been going to school for over 1.5 years now. And working on and off at low paying jobs that pretty much all suck aswell. Had an intake for a study today and I can start next september. But still, I have no Idea if it will actually work out. Hope I can hold on for the time the study lasts wich is only 1.5 years. Then I might be able to take over the family bussiness, if I still want to after that :P

I don't think its a "kick shoplifters asses" job, its more like keeping track of inventory. They use to term "loss" for stolen items. So you would take inventory each month and count the "losses" My one teacher was that for a department store and she said it was all just inventory and such. I could be wrong tho.

I feel ya on this. But you're ahead of me, you've got a job. I work for my dad at home on our horse farm and it's getting so damn old. I get how people like working outside and whatnot, but every day of your life doing the exact same thing? No thanks. I have a few friends, only one I'd call a TRUE friend and she lives in Knoxville and is never home I'm distracted during almost every activity of my day . .

Atleast now I somewhat have a career direction in mind, but who knows how long it will last. Personal life is shit. And I still haven't sold that god forsaken horse to pay for a car. So I know that "lost" feeling.

Don't worry about the not being to focus thing (even though its only that useless thing called school). Try some new stuff, something I am sure will spark your interest. Thats what I do, thats how I got into some of the stuff I really love (computers, cars, photography).

Well there is a lot more to it than a lot of people think. external theft(shoplifters), keeping track of inventory( like making sure shipments arrive in full/make sure no product gets missing/etc) and internal theft investigations(employee theft) my boss is in charge of like 5 stores in our district and has to travel to them often and stuff

But all that is management duties, i only get paid to stop shoplifters. I have to see them on out cameras stealing(the cameras are 360deg rotational and are 22x zoom) then I have to keep constant servalience until they get to the door to leave and then chase after them. It's such an adrenaline rush. And as far as "kicking the shit out of people".....lol....it's kind of a grey area. we aren't "supposed" to put our hands on them, but if it's self defense, it's self defense and sometimes they need a little....."motivation"..... to come back to the office lolz
