Yeah I have heard a lot of people say that UTI and Wyotech and stuff like that are kinda BS. but IDk, I don't think they could be that bad lol, but I would definately rather go to a College for it. Cape Fear down by me has an Auto Tech program..

UTI and Wyotech are basically crash courses. You go there, they show you how to do something, you leave. You have to look at hands on time and the number of students per class/car, stuff like that. I doubt UTI or Wyotech cares about anything like that. Its a cheap certificate basically. It only goes so far in the real world. Plus I doubt they mention anything about getting inspection license or getting ASE certified. I pay $27,000/year at my college and go for two years. You get what you pay for. The amount of information I learned already is just mind blowing to me. I love it. Hell I randomly find myself working on my car and think to myself "when the hell did I learn how to do this" haha. I already have job opportunities lined up with BMW and 2 european shops at my home town. Enough of me rambling haha, I have class at 10am tomorrow. Just think about what makes you happy in the long run. Don't decide on a major that you will **** 4 years down the road.Last edited by wheelfetish; 03-16-2010, 12:02 AM.

Just make sure you get a degree not a certificate. It will help get you farther in places after college. One guy I know graduated, started out making $60k a year. Right out of college with the same degree im getting. Go to local dealerships technicians and ask where they went to school and take it from there.Originally posted by RedE46Bimmer View PostDamn that sounds sick......wow
I may have to look into that... because even if I spend a whole day working on my car and so many things go wrong or whatever... in the end it still feels like a really good day.

I'm in pretty much the same situation as you, except I did two years at GA state and left just because I had no clue what I was going for and ***** it most of the time. Since then I've just been working retail and trying to figure out what I wanna do with my life.
I just try my best to keep moving forward and stay positive. haha
one day I'll get this shit straightened out.

I feel the same way bro... but man lifes a trip. I get all my advice from older people and the most successful ones always tell me to just go with the flow. Lifes a journey, who knows where it will take you next. Just get all the education you can under your belt and prusue your dreams.
If you wanna know what i do, i'm 20, I go to vo-tech for aviation working on my A&P. I also volunteer at the local road course which is about an hour away, basically as a janitor, i hope one day to be a mechanic/driver for a real racing team pref. T/A cars. I also voluteer at all the car/ aviation shows I can, the more people you know the further you will get in life. But you just gotta start at the bottom of the totem pole, with age comes wisdom. Hope i helped a bit.
