blacky what you probably dont know is those movies made the import scene a frustrating thing to be associated with, the kids (not that i wasnt a kid at the time that got into it immediately after FF came out really just fucked it all up. theft skyrocketed and cops really cracked down, and people that i looked up to that were into cars did not hold back with their utter disdain of anything japanese. i remember trying to have conversations about cars with people back then and just giving up because of all the misinformation and hype generated by those movies.

that being said things seem a lot better these days, but i think it has more to do with he availability of info and forums like stanceworks that are more accepting of different styles. i just had no idea that soo many people thought that highly of a guy that i associate(rightly or wrongly) with the temporary setback/ downfall of something ive dedicated my life to
That's fair enough and I completely understand where you're coming from, the other guy just put forward his point in an ignorant manner in my opinion.

Forewarning, this post is a little long.

What makes this video so powerful is the fact of family, bringing together a group of people with a common passion and love; for most of us it's cars.

"The most important thing in life will always be the people in this room, right here, right now. Salud mi familia."
Saw this video on FaceBook, which actually inspired me to write something about it.

"You know, I wasn't really going to post anything about this since everything has been said that needs to be said about Paul Walker. But after seeing this video, I felt inspired to share something a little insightful on my page, for once maybe?

I had this discussion with people at work, a discussion about why "car guys" were making such a big deal about Paul Walker's death. Yes, the Fast & Furious series has had a ton of terrible acting, weak plots, expected twists and cheesy one-liners, but he was a massive part of something that shed light on a life that most do not understand. There is a bond between most in the scene that can be attributed to that of a family.

While I will not go as far to say that the friends I have made in the car scene are any where near as important as my actual family (go cry somewhere else guys) I will say that they are a big part of my life, who I am and what I do. These friends will go out of their way to help, sometimes without ever meeting you. They may pick up and send parts your way, cook up some food and have you over or even give you a place to crash if need be.

This series also subtly hit on the fact that no matter where you came from, what you do for a living, your beliefs, your level of education or your salary, people of all walks of life can become very close simply because of some shaped forms of metal held together by a couple bolts."

A guy stole the roof off the wrecked car while it was being transported, then posted about it on Instgram. He was arrested afterwards.

I wish I had found this thread earlier!

Like most, I was pretty devastated when I had heard of what happened. Like what's been said before, the movies brought people together, even if the acting was mediocre and the plots kinda sucked. It got so many of us in the younger generation into modding cars and making them our own. It strengthened our car scene and made it what it is today. Imagine how many people in this generation would be into cars if these movies didn't exist?

Personally, the most important part of these movies is how they brought me closer to my brother and cousins. We'd watch these movies a lot growing up and would always joke around about them. Whether it was a "bullshit, asshole. No one likes the tuna here" or a "we hongry", these movies gave us something to connect over. Now we're all passionate about cars, and I honestly don't know where we would've been without these movies.

It's understandable though, for anyone who didn't have a personal connection to these movies to question why we're so affected by the death of a celebrity. And it's because we saw him as much more than that.

Remember when this video came out. Interesting that the collection is Paul Walker's. More Mustangs then I would have expected the guy would have owned.
