Pulled all the wiring from the previous owners stuff. Figured I would give a new fuse a try. Started it up, everything was all good. Shut the door, POP goes the fuse. Looks like it's time to go through the harness.Originally posted by Oxerpeople are such stupid cunts.

Get yourself a 12v light bulb (like from a headlight) and a couple pieces of wire maybe 2 ft long each. Fasten one end of the wire to the terminals on the light bulb (solder works the best, but whatever way you can make them stay.) Now, where the fuse terminal is, get a couple paper clips and stick them where the fuse pins would go and wrap your wires from the light bulbs around them making a circuit. Now try and get it to short out. If the light bulbs lights up you have a direct short somewhere. With the light bulb though you'll be able to use that as a load so you can wiggle wires or unplug different stuff until you narrow it down.
Have fun.

When the circuit shorts together that's what makes the fuse blow. (Fusess blow from excess amps going through the circuit). In the place of the fuse you are using a light bulb that has a load. The load allows you to purposely allow the circuit to short so you can find out where it is shorting together. I'm not too good at explaining things without drawing a picture (srs) so I hope you get what I'm saying.

Probably one of the best ways to hunt down shorts. A guy I worked with had a special bulb he rigged up just for stuff like this.
What fuse is it that keeps blowing?
