Uh no, And studies show Using Salt for roads is bad for the environment. It Seeps into the ground or into the water system and messes with Wild Life, Not to mention reeks havoc on Lawns and cement.

Sand is the best way. Only good thing salt has is it'll melt ice until -4*F then it just sits ontop if its colder.

In Ottawa they salt the roads even if there is like half an inch on the ground, and by salt I mean they just coat the entire road.

all of ontario is like this. My sis moved there and within 1 year her Gas Filler neck as rotten and she had to replace it. lol.

To wash a car in winter you just wait for a decent day to do it , man the fuck up, then tuck it away in a garage or something similar, drying overnight.

In my area its a 80/20 split 80% sand, 20% salt, it works wonders.
