I want a garage that is 30'x60' with one 2 post lift, John Beam alignment machine, Coats tire machine and balancer. That would be at my house and I would do work for friends and family.

If I had a shop I'd like it to be 100'X150'. A few lifts, tire machines, alignment machine, dyno, tuning software, paint booth...you get the point...

An alignment machine would be tits though. The one I use at school works with a 2 post lift. You compensate the sensors, then use the lift to put the car on stands under each tire, that way you don't have to drive on a lift. Perfect for lowered cars assuming you can get the lift under it...

lifts arent even that much money, they just take up crazy space and power unless you have a scissor lift

Lifts are nice to have but aren't necessary.

I tried to get my dad to buy a scissor lift for our garage. Only problem is you'd only be able to lift cars because of the ceiling height. Not to mention my car now wouldn't be able to drive over it unless I were to use boards which is a pita.

It's only stuff like that where a lift is basically a necessity.
