        Well since you asked

Its for a couple reasons. If you cut the ignition you loose power to everything (steering, brakes, possibly headlights). that is dangerous. also the same reasons car alarms dont offer a rolling ignition kill feature.

        ALSO

key to the on position > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut > cycle key > oil light comes on > ignition cut

Im sure you see where Im going. youd need to wire up a system using 1 SPDT relay and one timer relay. ignition on > trigger timer relay to open ignition cut circuit > oil light off > have timer relay shut off to allow ignition to stay on.

its a little hassle, but can easily be done. just not too safe if the ignition gets cut. You could probably do something cutting the fuel pump, and not have the same safety issues

it's like switching off the ignition while driving and lock the steering wheel^^

So what happens when (under normal circumstances) you just turn the key one click back when its already been started?
IIRC the battery is still engaged so all of the powered accessories still work, but the motor turns off.
Also I would have thought brakes would still work because they are hydraulic and the steering would still work, it just wouldn't be powered steering (which doesn't really matter at high speeds), the lights going off in the dark would be a bad thing but you could wire something to get around that as well I suppose.

its not ignition, its accessory power. totally different
