Driven lots of fast new cars but everyone misses the point on how a car makes you feel if you love cars like me.my e36 feels connected with the driver and fun to drive without all the aids of new cars kicking in even though new ones are everyday more comfortable to drive .
Both have a place in modding but down to the individual how they want to go about it.

For the record my fav drivers car is still the e39 m5

Oh I **** it, but on the rare occasion I have to drive it, and I'm alone in the car, I won't say that it hasn't been airborne.

I've had a lot more fun in my Dad's Prius than I care to admit, taking that thing to it's limits is a ton of fun.

good luck driving something carb-ed in another 10 years, the EPA will ream your ass so wide you could drive a train in there.
edit: i see you're an oregon hipster, the EPA will gently caress your scrotum and thank you for being ahead of your time.

i love people that "don't need a/c". if you want to purposefully make yourself uncomfortable, fine you do that,

i don't mind driving with the windows down when its hot, but i **** humidity. with no a/c you're screwed if its super humid outside. in my area, the average humidity is 78% from may to september. that's the average, its usually 85-87% in the morning and and 70-72% while driving home. i see no point in arriving at work already sweating...

    I know this feel.

I drive my M3 for a week and absolutely love the quiet, the power, and the reliability that comes along with it. After a little bit, I long to drive something that gets attention and is a little bit "rougher". So I drive my Prelude for a week, burn a quart of oil and clear the evap code for the check engine light, fight to get out of the Recaro with my coffee and lunch in hand, and long to drive something that doesn't need to be constantly fucked with. So I drive the M3, and the cycle repeats endlessly.

They'll be 20 year old "classics".
drive brzs and ft86s. not sure what people will use for a simple down to earth sedan though

Those are the things that create the character that people talk about. New cars are all made to perfection by machines, they have electricity making all the connections, and you need a scan tool to fix most things. The cars feel disconnected, because they are.

But then again, it's extremely nice to get in a car that will save you no matter what you do, where the only gauges you need to look at are the speed and fuel level, that has a warranty, that will get you from A to B with no issues and in complete comfort.

    In the end,

Every car is different and not only by the way it handles but by the driver as well. We all know this, as far as which is better, best or horrible..There are cars out there that just SUCK. I will admit...but there are some that are amazing, no matter new or old.

Easy on the Kia's here guys.

Off the top of my head, I don't think I have really driven a 'newer' sports car so I don't really have much of an opinion on this subject.

However, my dad used to have a '94 Mustang GT that he got rid of for an 07 GT. Granted the 94 had a little motor and suspension work (bolt ons) I think that was more fun to drive than the 07 GT. I think the thing that kills the 07 is Throttle By Wire instead of cable. The response is so much different.

But with that said, even with just that as an example, throttle by wire makes more since. With throttle by cable you need a idle air control valve to adjust airflow whereas with throttle by wire the PCM can just open the throttle blade up a little bit to compensate.

I think we are at the point where the majority of electronic components are pretty consistent, sure there are exceptions, but compared to where we were 10 years ago we're miles ahead now. Who knows how reliable they'll be in the future.

From a troubleshooting standpoint, newer cars can be easier to diagnose IMO, but you need a really good scantool to communicate with them. I used to work in a small shop were even we couldn't afford them, so for the average DIY garage rat, it's even tougher. That's the biggest downside IMO.

With that said, while I've worked on German cars, Domestic, Japanese, and Korean cars, I think Korean cars are my favorite. A lot of this is because I've found my current car ridiculously easy to work on. Not to mention Kia and Hyundai's shop info is free for all. They have their own info system that's free to use and very similar to ShopKey/AllData.

Like I said, I haven't driven many new performance cars, but right now the most fun car I have ever driven was a '76 911. The interior and exterior were pretty shot, but mechanically it was sound. To this day my dream car is still an older 911.

and new cars to 300k? my moms 06 kia has 275k on it, idk how many tbelts ive done on that car!

funny side not, for GM cars if a service advisor tries to put the mileage in and its greater than 200k the computer won't let them, it says that it exceeds vehicle limits....kind of funny

You're moms kia is a POS..... And You killed your point by stating you have to work on it all the time. Based also on your mothers car facts (you have provided make, miles and shit) she is also in a financial situation.

Once again I HA TE new cars and not due to the fact that they are current and priced to current market value's.......

IN 15 years when its 1200-1500 bucks I will still not buy it ya dumb fuck!

I can go for days but

New cars suck. Sure I might not be able to afford one now.... But I have plenty friends with e90's e92's e46m the new 135 I also drove.... My other buddy has a e55 all great cars but would I put my self in a hole just to feel good about my self! NOPE! And Shea is right it seems that newer cars drive them selfs.... I actually like the slight wheel vibration on 80+ mph in my 27 year old car! And I like the fact that I see my engine when I open up my hood. I like changing my own oil w no reset bs involved in the cars comp. Like dealer crap! I also like that I can change my own oil for under 40 Bucks and takes about 20 min only..... Try removing plastic bs for 20mins just to get to your filter! LOL

And cheaper parts are a plus... Used/refurbished parts are even a bigger plus! I just like the feel of older cars.....

Now my car has a fresh rebuild and actually moves.....With that being said I have a pretty functional older car that I do truly love.... I don't know I just love pulling out a Dipstick to check my oil less shit to fail in the long run!

Lets see that plastic car of yours make it to 300K!
