theres a touchless carwash a few miles from my house that is flat, the only thing i hit is the spray nozzles on the floor that "wash" the underbody. I take it there if im in a rush or its super dirty so i dont rub any dirt into the clear coat. Then i wash it in my driveway and i only use lamb's wool wash mits. Before the accident the paint on my car was impeccable.

either driveway or those selfwash places
the self wash places also make good spots for a quick shoot at night

Damn I really wish I knew of a good selfwash place near my house it would be a savior in the winter. In the summer I do all my washes at my house, and on a warm enough day in the winter (above freezing) I do my own washes. Otherwise I take it to Splash which is a local chain of handwash places, (I know I know swirls) but when I bought the car the paint wasnt that great anyway, (its getting sprayed this summer), so I don't worry to much about that right now. But once its sprayed its driveway or touchless or coinop only for me (if I can find one that is).

Automated/ pressurized washers = my car leaking. My car only gets washed by hand.

yeah what he said!!! as long as you keep it somewhat clean... it comes out great... if you keep a routine and use spray wax/detailer every 3rd or 4th time... you really cant be beat.

One of those coin places, but I bring all of my own mitts and drying cloths. I used to have a driveway at my old house but moved into an apt last year

Those auto wash deals are my nightmare! I wash my cars in the driveway or (during the winter) I'll give the daily a good hosing in one of the self wash bays to get all of the salt off.

...that and hot rotors + cold water = potential damage.

My driveway... I don't trust the "spray and pray" washes.

I detail as a hobby (and side business ), so it's always my driveway. My current car has the worst paint of any car I've owned (Cracking, peeling, rust), so I'm not as particular about it as I am about cars with good paint.

Quarter washes will RUIN black/dark paint with those damn plastic-bristle brushes that some of them have. I use the quarter wash in the winter because... well... there isn't much that could make my paint worse, and besides, I can just buff the swirls and spiderwebs out when spring comes.
