  • Whining about taxes and gas prices in usa? check this tread out.

So, ive been lurking here for a while, and ive seen sooo many times people whining about gas prices and general prices in the us well let the numbers talk for themself

Gas prices in norway: varies from 15 kr to 16 kr - thats 2.68 usd each liter of fuel.

    Import taxes are insane.

    for a new BMW m3 4.0l we must pay 998 800kr - thats 167 766.43 usd

    for a used SLS 63 AMG 2011 we must pay 2 390 000 kr - thats 401 443.52 usd

if you want to tune your car. you hawto pay 1000 kr 167.96 usd for every horsepower you gain

i could go on and on about the insane prices.. and soon we cant drive disel cars in the main cities (Oslo and Bergen)

    Sorry for my poor english.

oh, and here is the text that is missing from that chart.

      Petrol prices around the world

Here you can find information about petrol prices around the world. We present unleaded gas and diesel prices organized by country. The data are drawn from two sources. For the European Union countries, the data are updated regularly on a monthly basis. For the other countries, the data are updated with a lag of several months.

Petrol prices differ considerably across countries. The price of a liter of gasoline in some of the petrol producing states is less than 20 cents for the liter. In contrast, in many European countries, a liter of petrol cost more than 6 dollars. Prices also change over time. However, price movements are similar across countries. They either increase or decrease everywhere.
Price per liter of unleaded gasoline, June 2012.
Prices are in euro cents. To convert to dollars, multiply by about 1.25.
To convert to pounds, multiply by about 0.80.

                1 US gallon = 3.78541178 liter
                1 US doller = 5.88 ddkr.

The price dropped in Faroe Island back down to 11ddkr pr liter, that equals to (11ddkr * 3.78541178) divided by 5.88 = 7.1usd pr gallon. Tho its not so bad when you are used to it i guess
also i live in the highest tax area of the world. (well Denmark is rated to be the highest tax paying country in the world, but Faroe Island is not on any list, and we pay more tax then Denmark, up to 60% of our earnings is going to the nation, tho we have free healthcare and other luxuries like that. no one in Faroe Island is homeless etc etc.)

once you account for the fuel pricing, it really shouldnt be an issue. especially in the states. most people on here arent even old enough to remember paying less. In the states right now, our fuel prices (87 octane) are down $0.18 per gallon from last year according to the national average as calculated by AAA

Its really not bad, lately anyway. True, its nowhere near as cheap as it was ~4 years ago, but its definitely getting better. No complaints here either.

I'm paying close to $7/gal for diesel in Malta which is on the lower half of that scale, the problem is we have one major corporation controlling the import from one vendor, as opposed to the system we had a couple of decades ago with stations for providers like Shell, Total, Esso, etc...
