Since Dave isn't here, I gotta cover for him.

Where to begin... on my last vehicle I had a shop break a bolt off in my block for my oil pan then tell me it came in that way... had a shop not put two lugnuts on one of my wheels so that almost snapped off... had a shop break my exhaust y-pipe to header flange causing a loud ass leak, had a shop break a bolt off in my block for my water pump...

I no longer let anyone touch my vehicles. Fuck shops

I never take my car to shops but I've had extremely bad luck when getting cars towed back home.

2 years ago my Eurovan died on the side of the road and I had it towed home. They fucked the front axle up somehow pulling it onto the flatbed.

Last month my GTI's oil temp sensor started leaking on my drive home from school and had to get it towed. Rear tow strap broke and the car rolled forward into the cab, smashing the headlights, grill, rad support, hood and bumper. I ended up getting 2k from which $100 went towards a new rad support. I already had ecodes to install so I put those on. Rocking a shitty bumper and hood and no grill but no fucks given. Used the rest to buy a $500 2003 Jetta GLS that needed a new clutch. I'll take that.

No fucking shit. Shops are terrible. There are very few shops/people I would trust to work on any of my cars. Jiffy lube/Valvoline/Quick oil change places I wont say they are the worst, due to the limited access to tools, and not really messing with much, but holy fuck they were bad when I worked there.

Only "shop" I go to is a goodyear near me that my best buddy works at, who also drives a dumped car.

thankfully the only thing i go to shops for is inspections, and my old car they had me drive it in and out because they didn't want to drive it due to it's height and custom body work (wasn't even that low). so i've never had to deal with it.

well just found this out today but i took my car in for new brakes in july. Today, while i was putting on the winter wheels, I found that the stupid fucks overtightened 2 of the lugs so hard on my back right hub, they just spin in place and never catch. fuck i **** shops. I tried arguing with the stupid cunt there but he said i could have done it while putting the lugs back on (even though metal filings fell out as i was loosening them)

Most shops do a walk around and check for any imperfections and whatnot so that if they do damage it, both parties will be well aware.

Years ago back when I had a Cobalt SS (I know I know....) I took it into the dealership to investigate an obnoxious grinding noise (turned out to be a seized caliper) and upon getting it back I noticed a decent size gouge taken out of paint right where the door meets the quarter panel. Being as the car was relatively new at that point and I babied it, I knew it wasn't something I had done. But when I tried to point the blame at them, they basically said there was no way I could prove it and gave me a free bottle of touch up paint as a "courtesy". Big whoop.

Good luck with everything. I hope you can get it ironed out better than I did with my experience.

Haha. I know, I was just giving you guff.

Sucks to hear about your experiences, man. Some shops ruin it for the rest of us. If I hear about any good shops in or around Rhode Island, I'll send you a PM.

that would be amazing. my family has been screwed out of few grand over the years from two particular shops who we go simply because there's no one else around. We've had 2 cars go in for new tires at the same time, 6 out of the 8 tires were put on incorrectly .
