  • Freedom of Speech

I was just confronted by a cop in my own neighborhood about removing my front plate.

    Is what it says.

She told me legally I need two plates on my car (I knew that) and that she was going to write me a citation. I removed the plate and she said thanks. The fuck? I never put a front plate back on. I think she was pissed about what it said rather than the lack of front plate. I was never hassled for my previous"WUBWUBWUB" plate.

Solution? Put the plate back on with the MA plate right underneath. It was one of my neighbors that called, if they call again what could happen? I assume they'd be annoyed with me, but legally what can they do? I have two plates on my car and that's that. Freedom of speech no?

freedom of speech is protecting your right to express your ideas and views in a peaceful way.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances

Having "cunt" on your car is offensive to some and has nothing to do with freedom of speech

Regardless that cop is a cow.

But I'm not sure, if the freedom of speech law applies or not. I liked the plate though. lol

I understand it's offensive, I just didn't realize that doesn't apply here. I'm not sure I understand that middle paragraph, Average. Call me an idiot, but could you dumb it down for me?

That middle paragraph is the first amendment.

heres a link to a wiki article that explains it more in depth

Also if you have the euro plate and your MA plate on the front of your car, they can issue a citation for improper display.

cunt being offensive to some has no bearing on whether it is protected by freedom of speech, and yes choosing what you want to display on your vanity plate is a form of speech protected by the first amendment in general as it is a form of written word. the reason i can see having "cunt" being non protected speech is because it could be placed under sexually explicit words, vulgarity is covered under the first amendment (as was the decision when a guy decided to wear a jacket with "fuck the draft" written on it into a court and this was protected speech) but obscenety is not which the court has definied as sexually explicit, which i could see cunt falling under. now what type of trouble you could get in for your plate is going to depend on your states laws.

Just remove the plate. I get the impression you're trying to find loopholes which just pisses off cops more.
And "cunt" on your front plate is embarrassing to say the least.
