Just a lil update from my neck of the woods (120km west of Tokyo, far from the real damage)

There are currently fuel shortages as the fuel trucks can't get to gas stations due to the highways being closed. Tonight there were queues 20-30 cars deep at gas stations trying to fill up before it ran out.
They ended up having to ration it to 6 litres per car. Most stations had sold out, but I was lucky enough for them to let me get a full tank of hi-octane!

There is also severe damage to the power supply. There will be rolling blackouts for the next few weeks (months?)

Also tonight, while it's not much in the big scale of things we even noticed Kappa Zushi, a huge sushi chain restaurant was closed as the tsunami had affected their supply

It's unbelievable. A real shame. Some of the footage sucks to even watch.

I heard on the news that here in Pittsburgh, PA we had readings on the scale after it happened. Of course, they weren't noticeable to humans. But still, picture where Japan is, and picture where Pennsylvania is... that was a strong quake if we got readings from it here.

I'd like to wish all those in Japan best of luck recovering. I can't do much, wish I could though.

to be honest... if it wasn't a country like Japan that this had happened to... The world would have been much worse off. Say, For example... This magnitude of an earthquake hit Europe... (I understand, fault lines etc etc, just making a point) And we saw the following Tsunami hit aswell, they'd be fucked.. To be honest..

Japan has been designed to better take the force of earthquakes, and having been there to experience one myself (much, much lower on the richter) It was amazing how everyone just.. Stopped, looked around, and continued on... While me and my brother were fucking tripping out hardcore.

I understand the death toll is ridiculous, but they are so incredibly advanced, they won't let their people suffer, japan will definitely get back on their feet.

On a positive note.. Had the phone call from all of my family in Northern Honshu, and they are all safe.
