Still confused as to why reverse parking is such a bad thing in the US.

In Aus, you have to do it as part of your license test.

In alot of places its actually compulsory to reverse park.

This is the first time in my life that I've heard of anyone getting pissed at people for parking in reverse.

I park douchey, I back into spots, I don't really care if it makes me look like an attention whore. I wont ever take up more than a single parking space, but if there is a safer/bigger spot, I will usually take it. I used to not care about it, but both my 944 and Z4 had no dings, until I owned them and parked "normally". I have never had anyone say anything to me about it, or key/damage my car over it.

It's the opposite here in Japan, you're the odd one out if you park nose first.
                  I don't see how it's attention whoring?
.... Is someone a little bad at parking?

I always back into spots and try to park away from all the other road idiots. I don't take up 2 spots and I always align myself in the center of the stripes. I may not own the best car, but that doesn't mean I don't care about the way it looks.

My mom actually got a notice on her car for having her car backed into the driveway one night. We live in a gated townhouse area with security and apparently you're not allowed to do that? I back my car into my garage and the same when its in the driveway and they've never given me any problems haha

lolol ok guys. you're the douche if you think it's anything but awesome to back a car in. i laff at all the idiots who can't tell i'm going to back into a spot and try to snipe it from me. i greet them with a huge HONK and i'm backed in just in time, every time. fuck those idiots. nobody ever realizes that a right turn signal in a straight-lined parking lot means "parking right"

                          i back in because:
                          - car is low, can't see over any other car/suv, so it's really dangerous to back out of a parking space blind on both sides, i would much rather creep straight forward every time
                          - easier to leave the spot as stated above
                          - easier for me to maneuver the car in using mirrors to verify, rather than guessing where the passenger side ends
                          - no damage to front bumper. (i don't care what people say, bumper peril is not limited to hellaxxflush cars either. everyone should back in for this reason alone. how many altimas do you see on the road with super torn up bumpers? the answer is A LOT)
                          - if there's traffic while parking, you have to be on the right side of the traffic lane. what if you want to park on the right side, immediately after that? well... turn left, stop, reverse, turn right, back in, open door to verify where the line is. that should just be an automatic parking procedure for every driver.

i've worked at a lot of car businesses in my short experience, and it's disgusting how much damage people do to their cars, and the way they treat them in general. mine (and most of our cars) aren't beaten like all the others because i back in carefully and pay attention to my surroundings all the time. if anyone wants to give me crap for that, call me materialistic, or whatever, i just tell them they're a dumb loser. it's not a terrible idea to keep a pristine car. the people criticizing us for leaux are the same kinds of people who use their new impala as a mobile trash can + back seat mail/magazine cushion + diet coke w/lime bottle depository, and drive it 35k/yr before their first oil change. cars are cars, it's what we do with them that defines us

we're pretty much allowed to be cautious cocks about our cars. why wouldn't we be? a slammed car will behave differently on the road than a stock suv. we're on the losing end of it, so it's us who have to really be careful and be proactive about our driving. normal people just putz about on their tellefonez

its not that serious for all of you to be butthurt, i have tons of freinds who do it and i joke about it every time. dont call it easier or safer, because its not its preference. some of you should be suspense authors how you describe backing out of a space i prefer to go unnoticed in parking lots is all.

truth be told i rarely drive my bmw to anywhere close to huge lots so no malls or walmarts etc etc. but when i do i wait for the spaces closest to the entrance as long as i have to which is probably more annoying to others than parking ass in.

i actually found a article that favors you guys method of parking and i must admit it does have valid points http://lda.ucdavis.edu/LDA191/Course...al_Parking.pdf

if i came off as being legit upset im sorry, just making convo.
