Not sure how many of you guys are keeping up with the news, but Libya is a mess right now. I just heard reports of jets dropping bombs on civilians in Tripoli.

Ghadafi has declared war on the people of Libya, and there are reports saying its a genocide. The whole country has gone to hell, police are saying to be part of the rebellion, leading protestors into buildings then killing them all, or burning people after they tie them to stakes, its barbaric.

It's gonna get worse before it gets better, but in order for there to be upheaval in a country so deeply rooted in dictatorship, then people must be willing to sacrifice everything.

The pilots of two Libyan military jets that landed in Malta on Monday are "senior colonels" who were ordered to bomb protesters, Al Jazeera satellite network reports.

The colonels say they refused to bomb protesters demonstrating against Libyan leader Moammar Kadafi and instead defected to Malta, according to Al Jazeera reporter Karl Stagno-Novarra in Malta.

The pilots reportedly told Maltese officials they were based in Tripoli and ordered to attack protesters in Benghazi. After seeing fellow pilots begin bombing, the colonels changed course and headed for Malta, according to Al Jazeera.

Al Jazeera has been relaying eyewitness reports of airstrikes Monday, but cautioned that the bombings could not be verified.

Clashes in the Libyan capital of Tripoli on Monday left 160 dead, Al Arabiya network quoted eyewitnesses as saying Monday.

Yeah I just heard about those pilots.

Gotta get worse before it gets better, for sure. BUT, I really don't see how this can get much worse. I've been following updates on Twitter, and some of the stories, and videos on there are absolutely horrific. I can only hope for the people of Libya, that big things start happening for them, other wise there isn't going to be much of a country left.

even europe is quite apprehensive it seems (would it be cuz libya has many oil dollars - or that libya holds the flow of refugees from africa (italian island is only couple o miles away - lampedusa-)

the only reason any other country would get involved is to protect their interests, whether it's oil, spheres of influence, etc...

it's sad that area of the world is such a mess because it used to be so rich, both culturally and economically. now there's been fighting for like 2000 years.
