I feel like some of you may take it a bit too seriously, or think others take it more seriously than they do. It is just an easy way of keeping up with the happenings of friends, and gives a basic overview of someone. Most people I know represent who they are pretty well on FB, or don't present enough to even make an actual judgement. I can't say I honestly know anyone who is "socially akward" and people think they are super cool because of what their FB makes them seem like

I may have come into this thread a bit too late, but I just watched the social network. And I am now seriously considering following in the steps of Kielan. The entire point of facebook was for a couple of no social life, shy assholes to creep on girls. Nowadays, every human basically boils down to a profile page which is absurd. I'm not sure how the generation below us is going to even know what social skills are because there's not going to be a need to have them at all since they're going to be on facebook from birth basically. hmmm we'll see...

things like facebook and texting are what's destroying face-to-face communication with our generation. very few people can actually talk to someone face-to-face extremely well.

I try to, but you can't display your entire personality in a small about me section, and by commenting on statuses. So people always think the best, or have expectations of you because they see the best of you on FB so they think, that's who you are. I mean obviously they know thats not the entire you, but in many cases thats their first impression. People decide to think what they want of you, before you even meet them.Originally posted by Zic View Postif that is the problem, why not just portray your self, as your self on fb?

Oh believe me I know haha, I had a long stint where all I would do was forums. But unlike facebook, forums don't follow you around nearly as much.Originally posted by maciek View PostI totally understand you too, and I don't mean you're doing something wrong.
