I know. But i think most people just define cars over their horsepower because they just don't have the knowledge.

I really want to drive that car and see how it handles and feels like. Especially because it isn't that havy and has a smaller chassis and i guess a shorter wheelbase than the m3.
I also want to compare it to the E9x m3 and the e46 m3.

+1 Although I'd like to see the 1M with a little more power, I like that they kept it well under the M3. With more horsepower, it would give the M3 a run for it's money in multiple categories and IMO the M3 should always be BMW's top sports car from the factory. Not that I really care, I just wouldn't ever want to see the M discontinued or watered down some more.

But its just marginally more than it's non-M counterpart. And it's an M car for pete's sake. It should be ridic.

And no way 4-500. Everyone said the same thing about the 335 when they came out... "only a couple months till they're retarded fast." Here we are a few years later and no one is making retarded power with them for cheap.
360-370 at the wheels for around $500 isn't bad though

I'm unbelievably let down by BMW this time around. 340hp? Come on. This is an M. Ms used to be known for being bar-none the most powerful cars around.
Porsche did the same thing with the Cayman vs. the 911. There's an X5M and X6M now, the M badge isn't the same as it was years ago (not saying it's a bad thing but it's kind of like how AMG evolved for MB)

From what I understood though, the Cayman/Boxter are built on the same chassis, its just a coupe instead of the ragtop. I don't think the Cayman was made to compete with the 911, it was just a hardtop version of a great handling coupe. I read in a Car and Driver that a new Boxter is arguably the best handling Porsche aside from a race prepped 911.

            The Kia has been parted.

Bingo. And the 1M wasn't made to compete with the M3.

I don't know if the people that buy these cars off the floor are fit for 340RWHP. (queue crashed lambo pics) Everyone who bought a 135i wished BMW made a M version and, here it is. I think it's been over-hyped with ankle shots but, the styling is really nice; agressive body kit ftw and, the interior....is pretty much the same bland living room + some M badges.

I think this car is more or less a continuation of what BMW has always been doing with their M class.

what makes this one special I think, is its the smallest chassis yet and, a rebirth of what the 3 series used to be.... (don't troll me on this comment)

                definitely not a fail..

yes, it only makes 40 more hp, the us spec e36 m3 only made 51 more than the 325. Even moreso, the e30 m3 that everyone is comparing this to made only 24 more hp than its brother 325i.

i think BMW was more concerned about the price point and an overall package than pavement melting horsepower. Which is what M always meant, its just the horsepower wars kinda made everyone forget about the rest of the car. Also, im pretty sure they were putting this car together to a price point. the m3 has kinda spiraled out on control in that respect, i think if this thing dropped with a 50k plus pricetag people would shit themselves about that.

I like the 1M, theres a few styling cues that are a litte much, but its definitely a nice package. And im dying to see what kinda meats you can fit under those arches.
