        Rim is used more for multi-piece wheels. Hence why the screws that hold the barrels to the faces are called rim screws. BTW i hope by auto school, your not referring to one of those highschool programs, cause those are very limited. Hell, even a place like UTI doesnt delve too far into something like this.

          Beat seat because it is just that, where the tire bead meats the wheel and sits there.

          Interesting, never heard of a wheel not having a bead seat.

          I go to SUNY Morrisville. They have a 4 year Auto Tech degree, 2 year Auto tech degree, and a 2 year Auto Body degree. I originally went for the 4 year degree and completed a year but found my niche in Auto body and I will graduate in May.

            thats cool, not trying to belittle those places, they just don't delve to fare into wheels, they're more concerned with you learning to fix shit and diagnose

              The rim is the flange to the bead seat. In layman's terms. I really don't know how else to explain it to you.

              Rim's technically don't exist.

                      Bead seat, because other than that being a place for a wheel weight, its basic job is to keep the tire from coming off the wheel. It replaced beadlocks.

                        Which is what I originally said... I added flange only cause thats what most people would consider the rim to be.

                          Plenty of wheels don't have bead seats. My HREs did not.



                          If you let the air out of the tires, they'd pop off. I did it once.

                          The inners and outers are referred to as "rim halves" in the industry. Typically, "rim" is the outside edge, or flange. In any case, IMO, "rim" shouldn't be used unless saying "rim halves".
