The inners and outers are referred to as "rim halves" in the industry. Typically, "rim" is the outside edge, or flange. In any case, IMO, "rim" shouldn't be used unless saying "rim halves".

i left school after year 11 and got a job unloading milk trucks in a dairy factory, did that for a couple of years, i liked the job and the money was decent but i wanted a career, so i got an apprenticeship as a mechanic. started this year, at the age of 20 which is rather late.

i still have lots to learn

They are NOT "Rims" they are WHEELS. The rim the actual rim of the wheel, NOT the entire wheel. Everytime I see someone say rim it just takes away from their knowledge, I know you all know they are really called wheels. SO CALL THEM BY THE RIGHT NAME.

Technical terms aside, wheels just sounds better IMO. Like we're actually on a legitimate forum that cares about it and not on an episode of pimp my ride.
